Brutus is a person in Julius Caesar that you would not expect to want power. His ways of trying to obtain power are less obvious than other characters. In Julius Caesar, Brutus is a friend of Caesar, but notices that Caesar is acting ambitious like that of a tyrant. Brutus realises that he, himself values the good of Rome more than Caesar. Brutus through the ways of realising danger, being leader, and persuasion tries to gain power in the great empire of Rome.
CHARACTERS & QUOTES: Casca: Casca tells Brutus and Cassius about how Antony had offered Caesar the crown three times, but Caesar refused to accept it all three times. As the crowd cheered and celebrated the regeneration of Caesar's power, he suddenly fainted. ”The rabblement hooted and clapped their chapped hands and threw up their sweaty nightcaps, and uttered such a deal of stinking breath because Caesar refused the crown that it had almost choked Caesar, for he swooned and fell down at it.” Before he had fallen he noticed that the crowd had cheered as he rejected the crown causing him to open up his shirt and offer the commoners to cut his throat. Casca is in disbelief at what happened, even though it happened right in front of him.

On the other hand, the only reason Brutus agreed to join the conspiracy was that he believed killing Caesar was for the greater good. The two enemy factions exchange some words, and Brutus claims he's not a traitor. During the fight, Cassius kills himself over a misunderstanding, which he thought his friend Titinius had been overtaken by enemy hordes.

In Act 1, scene 3 a man named Casca fearfully recounts the various omens and abnormalities he recently witnessed to Cicero, a senator, and then to the leader of the conspirators, Cassius. Cassius then responds with his own interpretation; he believes that what is occurring is a god given warning for the instability of their government caused by Julius Caesar. From the start of the novel, Cassius proved himself as thirsty for the blood of Caesar and willing to go through lengths in order to get it. One method that Cassius is willing to use to his advantage is manipulation, as demonstrated throughout the novel, including in this scene.
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar is one of many plays that Shakespeare wrote. This play tells the story of the planning, killing and the aftermath of Caesar's murder. Brutus and the other conspirators kill Caesar because they believe that he would not be suitable for power and that he would abuse his power. Later on after Caesar's death the conspirators told noble Brutus that they killed him out of anger and hatred and not for the love of Rome. Brutus was hurt and was very depressed that he was the only one who killed Caesar for the good of Rome and that the conspirators killed him for the wrong reason.

Manipulation, the art of using deception, cleverness, and cunning on others to the advantage of oneself, is used by nearly everyone; sometimes even subconsciously. Children may pretend to be sick in order to garner love and affection from their parents, in addition to a day off of school. Adults may manipulate coworkers or managers into getting raises or to climb the corporate ladder. While these are relatively innocuous uses of manipulation, the motivations and consequences can often be far more severe.
Cassius manipulates Brutus to the point of making him feel as if there are several people wanting Brutus to do something about Caesar. Cassius also wants to convince Brutus that “Caesar’s ambition shall be glanced at” so they can eliminate his power for fear that “worse days [may] endure”. Cassius saves the life of Caesar, sees him beg for water, and witnesses his epileptic seizure. From these weaknesses, Cassius finds himself to be just as worthy of the crown as is Caesar. His reasons are emotionally tied to getting rid of Caesar, Brutus chooses to become a conspirator for the good of Rome. He does not know how Caesar will use his power.

On the other side of the story, Cassius is telling Brutus that Caesar is being too much of a king and is saying that Brutus should be the king. Brutus, the loyal friend he is, declines the thought and says that he needs a little more time to think about the idea. However, Brutus is persuaded by Cassius plan to kill Caesar as he reads a letter believing it was the people but it was really Cassius.
