The Ancient Romans The Roman people were the most successful ancient civilization. They were so successful because they conquered other ancient civilizations such as, Egypt, Greece, Britain, France, Spain, and many more. They also created the language Latin, which is like the umbrella for the Romance Languages such as, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian. Last they were great architects because they created great art such as the Colosseum and the Pantheon. Ancient Roman Civilization The Roman civilization had its early beginnings in a little city called Rome. Rome is said to have been created by the twin brothers Romulus and Remus, sons of the god of war: Mars. They were left to drown in the Tiber river, and were rescued by a she-wolf. Romulus and Remus killed the person that left them to drown and built their own city. They both wanted to be king and they argued. Finally Romulus killed Remus on April 21, 753 BC. Leaving Romulus was the first king of Rome. That’s why Rome is called rome not Reme. …show more content…

First came the Early Republic where the monarch held an election for the magistrates (consuls). They served as commanders and chiefs of the military. In 450 BC the first laws was established on the “Twelve Tables”. These laws were displayed in Roman Form and gave rights such as civil rights, and property rights. This lead to the creation of the senate in 300 B.C. The senate was made up of wealthy plebeian families. With a new way of government, the Roman Military started to expand. This lead a cultural and literal growth in Rome
