1. Request: The industry of construction is an industry where a firm has to be precise and very accurate. This is why I will be requesting that the superiors in my company purchase a piece of software Chief Architect, and revert from using their current software Sketch-up. This task will require persuading because the owners of the company think that using open-source software like Sketch-up will be sufficient. The company has been using Sketch-up for over five years and the thought process of the vice-president is that if it's free, it works, and there is no need to pay for other software. The vice-president is the main purchasing agent for office related equipment. The president of the company will most certainly backup the vice-president, because they are brothers, and he will not want there to be a disagreement within management. The vice-president and president both do not have any training in building design, architecture, or 3D drawing. All of the knowledge that the vice-president and president have has been obtained from being on the job for over 20 years. As a result, both of them enjoy using sketch-up, because it is a program that requires no training. This is one of the main reasons they want to continue using Sketch-up. On the other hand, both the vice-president and president are starting to see that some of the firms projects are becoming more complex and that Sketch-ups simplicity is not keeping up with the demand. The issue above will be used to report that switching from Sketch-up to Chief Architect will expand the firms scope of work, because now the firm can take on more complex jobs, and Chief Architect will simplify the drawing of complex …show more content…

1. Designing house plans will take a few hours instead of a few days when using Sketch-up. Tools within Chief Architect make the drawing process more efficient. Chief Architect automatically allows you to create roof lines and truss layouts. Staircases no longer have to be manually drawn in but are will be drawn in automatically.
2. Estimating and budgeting is made easier. Before you start drawing a plan you are required to input types of materials you will be using, types of nails, and County Building Codes. This allows Chief Architect to track how much material is needed, what type of material, how many nails, how much drywall, insulation, and much more. This feature alone will have our company thousands of dollars. This feature can also minimize material waste for each project. Now we can accurately price every project and we can also accurately budget for each project. This also us to give our customers the most competitive price and our project managers a precise budget for each
