There are many modern themes that connect to “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”. Some of these themes include superstitions, scams and cons, wealth, and language. These all play a huge role in today’s society, as well as the community in the book. These themes help to shape people into who they are and have changed somewhat throughout time. Some have gotten better over the years, others have gotten worse. Huck Finn Research Paper There are many topics in American society that have changed over the years. One example is on pages 56 and 57, when Huck pretends to be a girl in order to steal food and other items needed to survive.(Huck Finn, pages 56 and 57) In order to survive after running away, he needed items but could not just walk into a store, so he was forced to fake his identity and steal the items. There are many examples in today’s society of scams and cons, as well. Social media and technology makes it easier for con artists to scam people in today’s society. According to the author of “Spot the Scams: The 10 Most Common Money Cons”, “fraudsters trawl online dating sites preying on older women who might be divorced or widowed and have some cash.” Through these dating sites, women get guilted into giving men money after building relationships with them. I believe this issue has gotten worse throughout time because technology has made it much easier for scammers to trick
