I learned so much from Human Sexuality and today I will be writing my reflection paper and it will entail the course competencies. I will explain and give example for each one. At the end I will offer 10 websites so you can access for further education.
The biological theory will be applied to the development of sexual identity and sexual practices. My knowledge before this was; many different people believe that they had been miss developed and should be a different gender than what they should be and many cultures have their own beliefs of the body sexual orientation. For a male they usually have short hair and hairy on the arms, armpits, and sometimes the back and chest; for the female they usually have longer hair. Male are known for being dominate and women used to be considered a housewife who took care of their kids and cleaned the house while the husband worked. Two examples I learned from this competency are: Every March 15th, Japanese town of Komaki has a festival called the penis parade. Violent behaviors of sexuality is stuff that involves rape like the date rape drug which shuts your body down so you won't be able to control yourself and you won't remember anything that happen, but you will get the feeling something had happened. Two examples I learned from this competency are: 800,000 people are human trafficked each year (Human Trafficking, 2005) and Sex trafficking is the fastest growing crime category today (Rosenthal, 2013)
What role does hormones have in sexual behavior and sexual study of the brain. Men and women both have a sexual desire, a strong feeling of hormones that gives the body a sex drive. Two examples for this competency are: Men who have hypogonadism produce abnormally low levels of testosterone and generally experience less sexual desires and activities. (Rosenthal, 2013) Testosterone patch treats low sex drive in women. (Rosenthal, 2013)
Study what love is and the growth of sexual appeal. Love is when two couples have romantic feelings for each other. Most culture express their sexual appeal differently and some that I've learned are: Girls of the Kayan tribe wear brass rings around their necks as a sign of elegance and status (Rosenthal, 2013), Scars are beautiful to the Karo tribe (Rosenthal, 2013), and Women of the Maori tribe tattoo their lips and chin.
