What makes a human? There are defining qualities even those we might never think to be human can actually be because of them.
Frankenstein’s creature is a human because he has similar emotions, the same abilities, and is made of human parts.
The creature is human since he has similar emotions to what we know to be human-like. In Gris Grimly Frankenstein, while the creature is arguing with Frankenstein he reasons, "'How can I move thee? Believe me, Frankenstein: I was benevolent; my soul glowed with love and humanity: but am I not alone, miserably alone?'" (Grimly 83). The creature means he is kind and loving but feels lonely. When you think of a human you think of a structure that needs to be cared for and loved. In order for something or someone to be human they need to be related to or have characteristics of human beings. Love in the creature shows he is a human. Likewise, in Gris Grimly Frankenstein, the creature reads Frankenstein’s journal made while he abides by being created. After reading he realized, "'My heart was fashioned to be susceptible of love and sympathy; and, when wrenched by misery to vice and hatred, it did not endure the violence of the change without torture, such as you cannot even imagine...But when I discovered that he, the author of my existence, sought his own enjoyment in feelings and passions from the indulgence of which I was forever barred, then impotent envy and bitter indignation filled me with an insatiable thirst for vengeance'" (Grimly 190). The creature acted fine until he found out that Frankenstein had what he wanted, then he became extremely angry and violent.
