At Last
Good Evening class of 2017! I would also like to welcome parents, friend, and the Yucaipa High School faculty. I am delighted to be your class speaker, and I am thrilled to celebrate this special moment with all of you. Before I start I want to take the time to thank the two most important people in my life.My precious grandmother for being a mother figure to me, and for being the strongest woman I know. My father for guiding me through every step of my life. I couldn’t thank them enough for everything they have done for me. I love you both unconditionally.

There are so many of you here watching me to day. So I figured to entertain you I would share a few stories from the course of my life, and hope you can find it a bit inspirational. When I was trying to decide if I wanted to present this speech or not, I was a little hesitant because I cannot speak in front of people. Even when I have to present in front of my classmates that I have seen everyday for months, I get so nervous. In fact, my hands shake, my voice trembles, and I forget what I need to say. I would wash my hair and clumps would fall out and coiled down the drain. The summer of senior year I went to get a haircut at The ULTA beauty in Redlands. My hair stylist was named Megan. She was the nicest person ever and we had the girly conversations as she was washing my hair. As she was styling my hair, she had half of the left side up. It was half up and half down. Megan was blow-drying my hair with a spiky brush that was used for curling hair. When all of a sudden she started laughing. She had a shocked expression on her face. She said, " Girl you have a grey hair. How old are you again?" I told her that I was seventeen. She could not believe it. I think it was because I had such a stressful junior year. My point is I don’t want you guys to be stressed. Mahatma Gandhi said" There is nothing that waste the body like worry." Stress will not make you perform better at all. In fact, research shows that it promotes
