Starting at the middle of Rosemary’s story you learn about the life of a broken family and an incomplete girl trying to find herself using her past. Her brother Lowell who always disappeared, her sister Fern who went missing, and her neglectful parents who brought work into their lives too often. The beginning is set in 1996 at the University of California, Davis.

After her father’s arrest, Parvana takes the responsibility to work and earn money for her family by disguising herself as a boy.

Indifference is worse than anger, rage, and hatred as Ellie said, “Anger can at times be creative. One writes a great poem, a great symphony, have done something special for the sake of humanity because one is angry at the injustice that one witnesses”(Elie Wiesel, The Perils of Indifference). With indifference people are only punishing the victim and helping to achieve the goal of the unrighteous.

Throughout this book there is an underlying message about today’s culture and how it has changed eating for the better or worse. The first section of this book is all about industrialized farming and industrial eating. This form of food production is superior in terms of the amount of food produced. Unfortunately, in some cases, namely corn, food is being overproduced which brings down prices and hurts the economy. Another con to this form of farming is that it hurts the environment as well as some of the animals in the CAFO’s.
The author in the reading of "A Better Way to Fight Obesity: New, Smarter Supermarkets" had few purposes. One of her points was that supermarkets need to focus more on selling healthier products. Another one is that the buyers the people who are purchasing at these local supermarkets need to realize not to buy everything they see. Also, that by following that by selling healthier items at supermarkets and buyers actually buying healthy products that are a better way to fight obesity. The author is trying to convince the U.S to put more money in constructing supermarkets that will have healthier items and that they will be placed at a look of an eye.

Friedan’s novel is well known for creating a different kind of feminism and rousing various women across the nation.
The summers I’ve spent in Tonga were full of good natural foods that were either picked from the backyard or somewhere local. Ingredients used to make this delicious beverage called otai contains; watermelon or mangoes, crushed pineapples, coconut, milk, water, and sugar. The combinations of these different components made in Tonga gives a unique taste, but otai made in Tonga compared to how it’s made in America are the same. The texture and sweetness of this beverage is different and isn’t as satisfying as it is made in Tonga.
I am reading hunger by Michael Grant and I am on page 200. This book is about a world where everyone older then 14 disappears leaving all the younger kids left behind. Some of the kids are lucky enough to obtain powers. A boy named Sam must find out how all this happened, while keeping everyone under control. Sam also has many enemies like Drake and Caine that he must keep under control as well.
I chose the book by Neila Connors, If you Don’t Feed the Teachers, They Eat the Students!:Guide to Success for Administrators and Teachers to review. The book is an easy read and is refreshing in its approach as a guide for administrators. The author uses cooking metaphors to offer some practical advice on how to be an effective leader. Although the tone of the book is light and funny, it does a good job addressing the serious task that all school principals face, creating a positive and encouraging environment for teachers. As the book emphasizes the teachers are the foundation of the school, unhappy staff will not produce successful students.
The word hunger can have dozens upon dozens of meanings. Hunger can mean the need for food, or a need to travel and explore, and many more. Depending on the individual, hunger can be as large as traveling all around the world, or having a small meal. Hunger can vary vastly from one person to another, and some have more than others. However, for M. F. K. Fisher, the author of “Young Hunger”, proves that the youth of our civilization have the strongest of hunger.
