Summary In this article Jennifer L. Funk (2016) speaks about four different strategies for working with (ADHD). For the most part, this article gives the reader a deeper look inside (ADHD). The abbreviation (ADHD) stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In addition, (ADHD) was once called hyperkinesis or minimal brain dysfunction. In the history of (ADHD) it’s mostly common for children to be diagnosed with this disease. In summary, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a commonly known neurodevelopmental disorder that affects the brain. The signals in their brain are abnormal which causes a child’s developmental domains to work improperly. The specific developmental domains are social-emotional development, physical-motor development, and cognitive-language development. To elaborate, the social-emotional development includes the child’s relationship with themselves or others. Physical-motor development focuses on the gross, fine, and perceptual motor skills of a child. Including cognitive-language development, which will be able to observe, think, understand problem solving and memorization. The term “The whole child” has everything to do with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder, because it is dealing with areas of the human growth and child development. First, this disorder almost never develops alone, children will either show anxiety and even become depressed. However, children tend to focus on activities that are interesting to them rather than activities that are not. Teachers should implement activities that stimulates a child’s brain and their thinking process. Lastly, a vast majority of girls and minorities are less often diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
