In the novel titled I am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai, she asserts the struggles her and her family fought in order to open many doors for public education mainly for women where at the time they were seen as inferior. Malala relentlessly battled a war with the Taliban who opposed the idea to serve education for women in Pakistan where her and her family reside. As time passed, Malala improved in her educational studies as well as made her voice heard to bring fair justice to the educational system. Malala soon became known and many people were inspired by her. However, the Pakistan became angry and went in search for Malala and shot her. Malala also shares stories of her family, giving a glimpse into the culture of Pakistan from a young woman’s perspective. She describes her involvement in local politics, in the community and her vocal support of education for boys and girls. There’s no doubt Malala’s passion and courage to stand-up for women’s rights stems from her father’s actions and character. A young and innocent little girl, Malala saw how humble and powerful it was for one to go to school. The author asserts how her father was a huge iconic figure for Malala because he encouraged her to go to school. She spoke in conventions and participated in debates, and soon wrote her own diaries for the world to see her struggles and how inhumanity became worse in Pakistan. She described how she feared for her life bemused because she didn't want to be seen by Pakistan men. During this time Pakistan men saw women as inferior and threatened them. According to the author, Malala states how she struggled to sleep because of the “constant sounds of fighting in the hills outside town’’(p.77). Malala not only battled to get to school but had to do many things to hide her identity.
