I want to be a GHS cheer captain. I may not be one of the most talented girls on the squad, but I feel I am one of the most dedicated. I have cheered for going on 4 years now and I know all the ins and outs of cheerleading. I have had my fair share of good captains and not so good captains, therefore I know what I need to do to leave a positive impact on all of you, as a captain.
My favorite act of service that I have ever done was through the school’s project based learning. I had heard that the NWC Men’s Basketball Team was building a house a Haitian family who’s house had collapsed with all their belongings. I then contacted the men’s basketball coach asking if my group and I could raise money to buy items for their house. We organized a traditional bake sale, as well as an online bake sale, to raise money for the family. In the midst of baking 40 dozen cookies and 38 dozen cupcakes, I was coordinating with a missionary in Haiti, Krisie Mompremier, who knew what the family needed most.
After many days of endlessly searching, a friend of mine, who was a student at Cornell University, suggested looking into this distinguished establishment. After researching everything there is to know about Cornell and talking about it to my parents, they agreed that this quintessential university will undoubtedly contribute to my future success. Not only does Cornell appeal to me due to the fact that this university is one of eight (but undoubtedly the most supreme) Ivy League schools, but Cornell also stands out to me because of its appreciation of community, location, and golden educational programs- more specifically, the fact that Cornell has consistently been ranked in the top tier of veterinary

Service to me means, giving your all to you school and community without expecting anything in return. At a young age, I participated in many fundraising events with my dance team where we provided a service to others such as annual car washes, waiting tables at various restaurants, and organizing dances and activities for kids. In Junior High I was a key club member and we volunteered for concession stand duties, helped out at elementary basketball tournaments, and acted as line judges or referees at volleyball tournaments. Since my mom is a first grade teacher, I spent many summers setting up and organizing her classroom, and on my days off from school, I provided kids in my mom’s classroom with help in reading or math. As a part of Earth Week at our school, I did various jobs for people in my community.
Throughout my high school career, I was forced into many situations where I was challenged to connect with my peers and serve as a role model for future students. Whether it be my involvement in the school marching band, or helping students in community tutoring sessions, I have always made it my goal to better the people around me through my own efforts. Throughout my high school career, I have put forth my best effort to connect with my peers, transform individuals, and make a difference in my community. Joining the school marching band at the beginning of my freshman year of high school was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
According to Google maps, right now it would take me only thirty-six minutes to get to Georgetown. But I do not need Google maps, I know how to get there like the back of my hand. I essentially I grew up in Georgetown. I was born at Georgetown University’s hospital (along with two other screaming baby girls minutes after me, aka my triplets). I used to drive every day with my family to Georgetown’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center for my mother’s cancer treatment for four years and I still continue to visit her old nurses and doctors today.
I can relate to and fulfill Virginia Tech 's motto, "Ut Prosim" due to the fact that service is a very important aspect in my life. I believe that I have been blessed with everything I have been given in my life, including my family, friends, a healthy life and shelter. I am very grateful for all of these things, considering many people aren 't nearly as fortunate; sadly, there are far too many people who have close to nothing. For this reason, I believe that it is my obligation to give back to the community and provide service and help to anyone that is in need of it. The main reason I want to attend vocational school is to prepare myself for life after high school. I have always been fascinated with computers, and how they connect our entire world. Though computers are still fairly new, they are ever advancing. Computers are the future of the modern world, and I want to learn everything there is to know about them. Every big company needs people to manage their computer systems.
