“Why I Want to Obtain a Pharmacy Degree at South Dakota State University”
Some may find it odd when I talk about my childhood and being raised in the 2000s because it seems like just yesterday we were there and now I am writing an essay for a college pre-admission program. Until recently people who are my age were grouped into being Millennials, and it wasn’t a good stigma to be under. Growing up we were always told to be the best we could be, and when that wasn’t good enough we were handed a trophy anyway. Despite the debatable methods used to teach us by our elders, one thing we were always told was to follow our passion in life. “Do what makes you happy”. So as a child you desired to be a princess, or a rockstar, or whatever was on TV at the time. However, as we got older we were told to bring our dreams back into reality and just figure out what subject we liked the most and find a career in that. Which is a great method,

One of my softball teammate’s mom was a pharmacist and recommended South Dakota State (her alma mater). With that advice I set up a visit and drove with my mom for five hours up to Brookings. Within a matter of second after I stepped onto campus, I knew that SDSU would be a place I would love spending my time at during my college years. It felt very much like my Iowa home, but seemed like an exciting adventure at the same time. Of course I had to visit the pharmacy school on my during my time in Brookings, and I was very impressed with how the program is designed and the opportunities offered by the university as well. As much as I loved campus, I really wanted to be able to have some flexibility in regards to being able to study and work in different places as well. Learning that I could do rotations anywhere from Alaska to Hawaii made SDSU all the better fit for
