By revamping our perception and alignment of IT, we can change the “traditional view of IT as an expense rather than a revenue generator” (Luftman & Brier, 1999) (as cited, Danielle Lohmann, Discussion 1, 11:44 PM). As you mentioned, IT alignment is simply the confluence of organizational purpose and technology within the enterprise (John Nicolay, Discussion 1, 3:03 PM). With the integration of IT, it would seem like it would be a natural progression from one stage to the next, but changes without a strategic plan will fall short of expectation. In Discussion 1, Laxamana details the six types of enabler and inhibitors to alignment. Of the twelve total items, six directly pertains to the involvement of senior executives and/ or IT management and leadership.

Task-1 Describe how and to what extent does Steve jobs careers illuminate the difference between leadership and management styles? The choice of Steve Jobs for this case study draws in many aspects of the theories of leadership and reminds us of one further thing: that successful leaders may sometimes divide the world into two camps: those who adore the leader and those who cannot stand him(or her). This phenomenon is not so unusual: it was true of Margaret Thatcher’s political leadership, for example, and of many military leaders over the centuries.

The aim of this report was to research and understand what exactly digital means, the importance of the digital world to companies today and how they use it to the best of their ability for the positive performance of their business. Through our research of academic and peer reviewed articles and journals we learn how digital space can provide a world of opportunities to organisations as we focus in on the hospitality industry and the hotels who make the most of the digital platforms available. We are aware that many companies are rushing to become digital in order to reap the awards of these opportunities, but we look at how they surge to be effective or in some cases fail and see a decline in their digital popularity scale. North, 2014 discusses how consumers have little or no loyalty to brands and are willing to move from one digital platform to another as technology changes.
