177 Words1 Pages
Harley is a Canadian composer and author whose book on Iannis Xenakis looks in-depth at the architect and composers life; it covers a wide range of subjects including childhood, his studies and work in architecture, studies in music and his involvement in the birth and early stages of musique concrete. Harley has taught at the Royal Academy of Music, Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music and the California Institute of The Arts. His areas specialise in digital composition and the history of electronic/computer music. I believe this book would be very useful as it goes into detail about many of Xenakis’s compositions and performed live pieces. It also features specific diagrams which outline audience and musician layouts within the chosen venue.
