Nurses manage to top the survey in comparison to other occupations in the healthcare line as they are the only ones to provide continual direct care and support. Healthcare professionals are also trusted
Objective One During my clinical day three, I demonstrated entry-level competence in professional nursing practice in caring for patients with multiple and/or complex unmet human needs. I addressed safety needs, safety in medication administration, effective communication, and surveillance for my patients. First, I addressed safety needs my ensuring the appropriate safety measures were implemented for the patients. Some of the safety measures included, wearing non-skid socks, wearing a yellow armband which indicated fall risk, keeping the bed in lowest position, two side rails up, bed locked, and the call light within reach.
The four spheres of political action in nursing are government, workplace, professional organizations, and community. They are all interrelated and interconnected. The government enacts policies that govern and affect all spheres. Healthcare policies are often made to ensure access, quality, and affordability of care. It determines the scope of nursing practice at a state level.
Nursing is an age old profession of compassion, encouragement, and support to the injured. With the development of learned abilities nurses are able to heal by easing suffering, treatment, and encouragement of the care of people, families, communities, and populations. Professional nursing roles entail practices based on evidence that are defensive, recuperative, and promotive when focusing on a holistic manner. Developing professional roles of nurses are highly recognized and nurtured. A nurse plays an essential role in the healthcare system.
Thank you for sharing your thought and experience. Delegation helps to release the burdens and free the hands from RN who then can focus more on the tasks that require advance skills. Of course, it also help to solve the problem of nursing shortage, provide flexibility in management and save the healthcare operational cost. Delegation relay on delegators’ knowledge, skills, judgement, ethics, personalities, communication styles and co-operation between delegators and delegates (Cipriano, 2010). With the influence of all these variables, delegation is not a simple skill or task.
Before conducting this research I hypothesized that physicians’ experiences could help improve health policy and health law. My hypothesis was based on the fact that physicians have first-hand experience with what is going on in the healthcare system and are the ones that have to carry out health laws and policies. So, by listening to the experiences of physicians, policymakers could gain insight on what is working, not working and what needs to be improved within the healthcare system. The question that this study focused on was what is the hospitalist experience with New York’s Family Health Care Decisions Act (2010) at the University of Rochester Medical Center? In regard to this Act I wanted to see how using hospitalists’ experiences could be used to improve the Act.
The nursing profession encompasses not only different levels of licensed nurses but also different scopes and skills. The four main nursing roles include; member of the profession, provider of the patient-centered care, patient safety advocate and member of the health care team (Texas Board of Nursing [TBON], 2011). Additionally, there are 25 core competencies that fall under the four nursing roles that are further explained into more specific expectations in clinical judgements, behaviors and competency (TBON, 2011). The competencies are written to guide nursing school curriculums accordingly and to provide a foundation of education to be carried out in all programs (TBON, 2011).
Chronic Care Management Policy Health and well-being not only affects individuals it has an impact on society as a whole. Policies that address health are formal guidelines created to enhance health by directing actions of the healthcare delivery. The goal of these policies is to improve the overall health of the community as a whole. With the passage of the Affordable Care Act, healthcare will likely never be the same. Medicare guidelines steer the approaches taken by healthcare organizations.
Nurses need the ability of fast critical thinking skills and observation of declining signs and symptoms. Nurses also must have the ability to educate
This is a personal statement for my application to the Family Nurse Practitioner Concentration in the Ball State School of Nursing. My personal statement provides details on my personal background and the unique impact that Family Nurse Practitioners have had on my life. I describe my undergraduate studies and how I firsthand gained interest as well as insight on the skills of a Family Nurse Practitioner. I go into detail about my aspiration to be a Family Nurse Practitioner to directly affect the patient care of a variety of patient populations. The personal statement connects qualities of my current practice as a Registered Nurse to the proficiencies of a Family Nurse Practitioner.
The nursing practice uses science, knowledge and truth to legitimize the nursing profession. The nursing profession provides individualized nursing care. Nurses are key factors within the medical team and is guided by research and knowledge.
Public Service is a necessity in society and it takes a unique person to be in this field. Pursuing a career in public service requires many characteristics: compassion, patience, obedience, communication, empathy, flexibility, meticulous, emotional stability, respect, timeliness and many other things. When a nurse enters work focus is important and being able to think quickly and act quickly could save lives. My mother is a nurse and from watching her I have learned how to be caring and compassionate for myself and others. Being an experienced nurse is not parallel to being a compassionate nurse.
Strengths and Weaknesses My three major strengths are medication administration, communication with patients, and asking questions when I do not fully understand something. I feel like throughout my preceptorship these have grown stronger, and have helped me to be successful. My three major weaknesses that I have been focusing on throughout my residency are communicating with physicians, completing skills I am unfamiliar with, and improving my confidence. I would say that these have improved quite significantly, but I still have a ways to go.
There has been so many views and different interpretation given to ideology as a component over decades. Even though Marx seems to be the father of ideology, some other authors also mentioned some things about ideology. Shelby (2003) examined in his book some contemporary social theorists and philosophers’ view about ideology and stated that ideology is the imaginary relationship of individuals to their real conditions of existence, and that ideology is a social consciousness which takes certain false things to be true about matters having significance to the outcome of class-divided societies. This was in full support of what happened in the above scenario. The man involved had false beliefs and thoughts about the attitude of nurses in general,
What does nursing mean to me? Nursing means helping people heal, meeting their needs while they are in your care, listening to concerns, protecting them from harm, and educating them how to care for themselves while treating them with dignity, compassion and respect and giving of yourself to the care of people and community. It is having compassion for people and their health and being a humanitarian, making sure they receive the best care possible. Nurses must also treat families of patients with kindness, realizing they are going through a stressful situation also. Nursing is a responsibility to provide the best care regardless of the patient’s age, race, religion, sex, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or their past.
