Dolores Huerta advocated for the farm workers by using civil disobedience to attract the government's attention, which led to a strike, so they were able to gain equality and get paid more. I would say the concept of this is about a nonviolent act that changes the law or the government's policy. We can also say it's when you're refusing to obey the law in a peaceful manner. In other words, I would say that civil disobedience is when you're refusing to pay your taxes or fines to the government. People that also experienced this were Henry David Thoreau, Dolores Huerta, Larry Itliong, Martin Luther King Jr., and Cesar Chavez. Dolores Huerta experienced injustice so she can support the farm workers to get what they want.“We will call a general strike to let the legislators and the employers know we mean business. We will take economic pressure, strikes, boycotts, to force recognition and obtain collective bargaining rights”(Huerta 2). This supports my claim because Dolores Huerta went through injustice to support the farm workers to get what they want. This can relate to employment discrimination because people are trying to get jobs, but they don't want them because of their race. Furthermore, Dolores Huerta set up rules in the state to protect the farm workers, and to fix their economic problems.“We are citizens and we are residents of the state of California, and we want the rules set up to protect us in this state, right here. If the rules to settle our economic problems are not forthcoming, we will call a general strike to paralyze the state’s agricultural economy”(Huerta 2). This supports my claim because she wanted the rules to protect them, and their problems and if they don't settle then they will take action against the government. This can relate to the school strike because if they don't get what they want they will keep going on strike until they get what they want.
