You have probably heard about these people already, but, I’m here to talk about them again today. The informational text “About Cesar” by the Cesar Chavez Foundation (C.C.F) is about what motivated him to help migrant farm workers have better rights and create non-violence movements. “Harriet Tubman, Conductor of the Underground Railroad” the informational text written by Ann Petry is about how Harriet became a slave when she was little and how she learned her skills from a friend named Ben that helped her later on help free slaves. Both of these people helped make extraordinary changes in the world but in two very different ways. Harriet Tubman made a big impact on the world by helping slaves escape to a better life , while she grew up to be slave she also grew up to be a defender of human rights. In fact, it states “By the time Harriet Ross was six years old, she had unconsciously absorbed many kinds of knowledge, almost with the air she breathed. She could not, for example, have said how or what moment she learned she was a slave.” (Petry,35) This shows that she gained her skills at a young age and that everyone she knew was a slave. Cesar made everyone feel special, especially farm workers, feel the jobs they were doing in the movement were very important. It did not matter if they were lawyers working in the courtrooms or cooks in the kitchen feeding the people involved with the strike, he showed the farm workers that they could win against great odds. He gave people the faith to believe in themselves, even if they were poor and unable to receive the best education. Cesar succeeded where so many others failed for 100 years to organize farm workers. He was able to do the impossible by challenging and overcoming the power of one of the country’s richest industries in California.” (C.C.F, 25) This shows that his job was very important to him and that he loved helping other and making them feel
