OSHA 's mission is to assure safe and healthful workplaces by setting and enforcing standards, and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance. Employers must comply with all applicable OSHA standards. Employers must also comply with the General Duty Clause of the OSH Act, which requires employers to keep their workplace free of serious recognized hazards (osha.gov).

Reflective Journal entry Unit 4 In today’s society, one of the primary objectives is to ensure that staffs working in the various department of the health sector have maximum protection, inclusive of the environment in which they live dwell and play. Therefore, adequate measures must be implemented to extenuated environmental and occupational hazards. The occupational and environmental health takes a multidisciplinary approach as it relates to the correct identification of diseases from exposure hazardous agents in the community of in the workplace.
The Occupational Safety Health Act helped create safety codes that all businesses must follow. These codes helped prevent deaths and injuries. The Occupational Safety Health Act states that in order for a job to pass inspection, it must have clear routes to all exits, several working fire exits, unlocked doors during working hours, firefighting equipment that everyone knows how to use, fire sprinklers, and a fire evacuation plan in event of fire (Lange 84). These regulations all help prevent chaos during fires because it allows for easy access to exits in an emergency, and it gives an opportunity to stop the fire before it becomes out of control. Not only did the Occupational Safety Health Act provide safety codes, but it also deals with on the job injuries, illness, and deaths (Lange 84).

The responsibility of keeping service users safe should be on all the employees. The Health and Safety at Work Act imposes duties on employers and employees to protect individuals. To enable these duties to be carried out (Deepingspractice.co.uk, 2015) GP surgeries have a sharps bin, which is for the disposal of sharp instruments, such as needles. This bin should be kept open and not filled to a certain level because the lives of the patients may be at risk.
These organisms might be fungus, viruses, or bacteria. Physical hazards are a broad range of hazards and include noise, vibration, temperature and more. There are multitudes of controls for physical hazards. The final hazard encompasses ergonomic hazards. Ergonomics includes repetitious movements, poorly set up work stations, and over using of body parts.

After The Triangle factory fire and the number of victims helped peoples to fight for worker safety with reason “ Lives were lost because the need for profit was placed above the importance of worker safety. To prevent possible abuse from those working directly with children and to prevent allegations of abuse it is important to adopt good working practices. These help young children to get a feel of what is appropriate and may help them to respond if another adult behaves differently. The basis of safe working practice is openness so that other adults in the setting can either see or know what you are doing when you are with the children.

Occupational therapy saved my family. Growing up with a sister with severe spastic cerebral palsy to include both cognitive and functional deficits, life existed on a day to day, hour by hour basis, as we were unsure of challenges each moment would bring. This all changed the moment occupational therapy brought quality of life back to me and my family. My very personal experience defined my purpose to become an occupational therapist, to pay the gift given my family forward.
