ARCHITECTURAL THEORY
Today when we look around we see a huge cluster of buildings around us. Many people term this ‘cluster’ as architecture. Architecture is a subjective term which has different meanings for different individuals. For some it might be just a creation of a structure and for some it might be a more complex idea relating to the evolution of the design to its completion and its effects on the surrounding. The dynamic character of architecture is what defines it and makes it unique.
When a designer visualises the design he tries to add meaning to it by creating the forms and then applying them into his final design. The important step that is involved in this is the process of critical analysis throughout designing. This critical …show more content…

It may not be the same as it was earlier. Architectural theory when seen at a larger scale can be about discussing various styles which have evolved and how the existing building styles are fulfilling the idea behind their creation. The importance of this is highlighted as it offers an insight into how the whole process of design and the idea of design have been successful in creating an architecture which is accepted widely. The theory of architecture not only deals with analyzing a structure but also helps in providing varying and logical solutions to the existing problems and also empowers the designer to …show more content…

We often define space in relation to the physical dimensions and not according to the context around it. Analyzing a space before building is important as it can provide a greater insight into the whole process of building and increases the chances of problem solving. A space defines the pedestrian movement pattern and how they may be affected by all energies surrounding the site. This gets transported to the building that gets erected in that particular space and if not analyzed it might lead to a structure which can be termed as ‘architecture failure’. There is a religious and historical importance related to spaces and this adds a certain meaning to that particular space which needs to be understood.
Including theory in architecture provides a rational thought and also helps architecture to work in unison with other fields to which architecture can be related. Architecture as a field has spread itself to a larger area and has served as an opportunity for dynamic designers to design structure which peak into the future while being in the present. This is possible because of the theoretical analysis (includes studying of history, present, and effect on art, society, etc.) and improvising it for future
