My own definition for the word sun is that the sun is what helps earth have heat, it is made up of different gases and is very useful and harmful for earth. For the word Sun, I provided a link that just tells facts about the sun that earth sees, like that it is the largest object in our solar system. Next is provided a link for the learner to know what the sun is made out of and it is made up of different gases within several layers. I also provide a cool link that tells how close a human could get to the sun and not die. My last link before my common link is a link that takes the learner to a romance story of how the
Looking at the Dakota prisoner of war letters we can see society through a lens that is often hidden in historical records, that being the perspective of Native Indians. The Natives, who occupied the land now known as the Midwestern United States, were treated like animals and savages by the European settlers who were continually moving west. The Dakota POW letters show that much like the European settlers, the Natives were a society with families and values that shouldn’t be treated different because of their heritage. David Faribault Jr. (also known as Four Lighting) argues that the Dakota people deserve to be treated as equals and human, and shouldn’t be prosecuted for “bad deeds” committed by other tribal members. The Dakota POW letters

The lighting in Donnie Darko movie is a key component of composition which creates our sense of illuminating for people and things. This movie uses two sources of lighting; natural light, such as daylight, when the scene is in an outdoor area for example, walking from school, at home, waiting at bus stop, or playing outside of the school on sunny days. Another source of light is artificial spotlight which is used in the movie indoors to cut and shape the light at the dining table, in the classroom or in the psychotherapist's house. Also, distinct shadows are used as an essentially smooth surface that reflects hard light in the Halloween party to feature deep shadows and scary areas in function of the plot. Three-points of lighting create ominous shadows in the horror genre for all the actors at Donnie and Elizabeth's Halloween party with lighting from below the cast to create monstrous objects in real life.
In Ross’ short story “The Lamp Lit at Noon” there is person vs person and person vs nature conflict throughout the story. Conflict is to come into collision or disagreement. It is also known as the struggle between opposition. Paul and Ellen have different opinions on what they want. Ellen wants to leave their farm on the prairies because the vicious storms are preventing them from going anything.
Night Essay Throughout world war two, thousands upon thousands of Jews around Europe were forcefully deported to inhumane concentration camps by the Nazis, who they believed were unequal to them. Millions died, however, many also survived and some spoke of their experiences. In his memoir Night, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel recounts the horrors and feats that he and his father encountered while imprisoned in numerous concentration camps towards the end of WWII. During that time, Elie faced many decisions that had pronounced impacts on his beliefs, faith in humanity, and life. From the decisions he makes, Elie's innocence and identity are both negatively, and positively changed throughout his experience as a concentration camp prisoner.
The novel Night, written by Elie Wiesel gives a firsthand account of the events of the Holocaust from one of its victims. The novel goes through some of Wiesel's experiences, and by association the trauma he faces. In Elie Wiesel’s memoir Night, Wiesel asserts that cruelty and inhumane treatment may result in a shift in one's individualism, spirituality and ethics. Ultimately the author's purpose is to suggest that trauma within an individual or group can cause them to lose their innocence much quicker than without.
Hardly Human About 200,000 people that passed through the Auschwitz death camp during the Holocaust managed to survive. However, that number pales in comparison to the 2.1 to 4 million people slaughtered in that very same camp. Elie Wiesel, the author of Night, became one of the seemingly lucky survivors of this horrifying genocide. In this novel, Elie describes the agony he went through while going from one concentration camp to the next attempting to escape death.
I am writing to you because I am quite fearful of your current mental state. I understand that residential school is extremely stressful and emotionally distressful. Firstly, I have read the news regarding your classmates, from the suicides to the disease. Your life currently is very dark and lonely because grandmother passed away and your parents have abandoned you. What happened to Arden Little Light and the rest of your classmates that decided to commit suicide deeply dented even my own mental state.
A fictional teacher whose name I am not at liberty to disclose has been recorded as making the following comment, “I realize that Night is a powerful, well-written book but I would not use it in class. I would prefer to have students read a more uplifting piece of Holocaust literature, such as The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank or Lois Lowry’s Number the Stars.” I will attempt to refrain from insulting this teacher’s teaching style because I have tremendous respect for all teachers, but these comments cannot be allowed to remain unchecked. I do not support this teaching style. By omitting Night from classroom activities while learning about the Holocaust and literature that has been created from it, this teacher is doing a large disservice to his/her students.
When lighting an exterior scene with a wide shot, not much could be done to balance levels. But when the director goes for a close-up or a medium shot, he uses diffusion or bouncing light to hide the hard quality of light from the sun. Diffusion and bounced light is in the movies since the late 1910’s and early 1920’s. Keeping the exposure of the actor’s face allows the audience to believe what is going on. The limitation of power on the non-studio shots makes lighting fixtures difficult to power.
Sung by the griot Djeli Mamoudou Kouyaté, and written in prose by D.T. Niane is an epic steeped in an unequivocal blend of African tradition, myth, and history, Sundiata: An Epic of Old Mali. The epic begins by tracing the patrilineality of the Father of Mali who was predestined by a soothsayer to be the seventh conqueror of the earth. Sundiata for most of his childhood was incapable of walking; as a result of his physical limitation many assumed he would not fulfil the soothsayer’s prophecy, despite being wise beyond his years. Subsequent to the death of his father, Sundiata, his mother Sogolon, and his brother Manding Bory fled from Mali in fear of persecution, and exile by his stepmother Sassouma Bérété.
Tanning has become very popular in today’s society. Tanned skin has become known as healthy and beautiful, when in reality tanned skin is damaged skin. Many teens start the habit of indoor tanning when preparing for a school dance or maybe another special occasion, and then they just continue to go afterwards. Indoor tanning equipment, which includes all artificial light sources, including beds, lamps, bulbs, booths, etc., emits UVA and UVB radiation. The amount of the radiation produced during indoor tanning is similar to the sun, and in some cases might be stronger than the sun ("Indoor Tanning”).
The most critical part of a horror movie, is the suspense. The Shining did a satisfying job when it came to each scene, having its own little twist. These little twists added up in the end to make the film as striking as possible. With these little twists in mind it brings an example out from the movie. This is shown by the scene in which, the little boy named Danny is in his bathroom talking to his invisible friend Tony, in which lives in Danny’s mouth.
Lines, spacing, color and shapes are the basic elements of art. I believe art is an expression of the body, mind, and soul of an individual. I also believe art shouldn 't have any boundaries, nor should have restrictions. I believe art always has something to say, but never needs to make a statement. The audience always has the right to interpret art as they see fit.
