INTRODUCTION
Indonesia is a big country consists of many islands, located in South East Asia, which has many kinds of tribes. Each tribe has its own culture and language. Although the tribes are in the same island, their language is different. The language that they used in a region is preserved by the speaker. However, for a big country like Indonesia, the tribes are united by National language of Indonesia. National language is the language of a political, cultural, and social unit. It is generally developed and used as a symbol of nationality. It is also functioned to identify the nation and unite the people of the nation (Holmes, 1997). Moreover, Holmes described Official language as a language which may be used for government business. The function is primarly utilitarian rather than symbolic. For multilingual country like Indonesia, it is very important to unite the language for communicating and understanding the conversation since Ethnologue 15 (Gordon 2005) lists Indonesia as having 742 languages spoken. It is very important to Indonesian people to be able to speak Indonesian language or Bahasa Indonesia for Indonesian language represents both functions, as national and official language. That is why; it is really needed in everyday communication beside its function to show the nationality.
