But popularity is not the most important trait in a leader; people should look at a leader’s results rather than his/her ability to speak. For example; football/volleyball, U.I.L/ National Honor Society, or even Spanish/Interact club. Leaders must be willing to pass on a positive influence and know when to take charge. They must begin to be role models to those they associate with on a daily basis.
For instance, a leader must be passionate about the role they play in order to inspire others to join them. They must be able to communicate their thought process in order for outsiders to fully apprehend their vision. Leaders must be committed to carry through their ideas. They must be able to build a solid group foundation in order for them to succeed in the long run. Leaders should be decisive which requires a lot of confidence in themselves and their idea.
When the team’s performance expectations are met, there should be rewards and recognitions so as to encourage them to continue their great performance. Nonetheless, since performance is link to remunerations, team members might feel competitive and hence resort to unethical ways in order to achieve their targets. Alternatively, attending leadership training to improve leadership skills and to upgrade the current skills can be done. With that, the manager will have the knowledge on how to communicate, guide and motivate his team to achieve their goals.
