Shem Pete’s Alaska is about the wonders that Alaska has to give. Shem Pete focuses mainly on rivers located in Alaska in this book, such as the Skwentna River, Matanuska River, Turnagain Arm, and so on. Shem Pete gives a brief description of each river, the surroundings, and the culture within the area. From what I have read, every place that Shem Pete talks about, has their own language, and is very diverse and the rivers of Alaska has the most beautiful rivers in the world. Not only are these rivers here for sight seeing, but they are also there for hunting food, and to bring back food.
In the article “Water Worries Grow in the Desert Southwest,” Rice (2013) talks about climate changes and causes that impact on water in the desert Southwest. The author mentioned Native Americans, they used canals and dams to bring water since 10 centuries. Today, there are 56 million Americans growing up in Southwest and they have region’s natural dryness. Also, Arizona state has less rain every year around 7.5 inches. In addition, Colorado River is most important to help 30 million people in Southwest.
Located just of the 76, or Tony Zeppetella, highway in southern California is the home of the 18th Spanish mission, Mission San Luis Rey de Fancia. This is one of the most southern missions in California, aside from Mission San Diego de Alcala. This mission was founded by Padre Fermin Francisco de Lasuen in 1789, and it was named after St. Louis XI, the King of France. This mission had undergone several of the stages seen in the average Californian historical landmarks and buildings. During World War I, soldiers were promised a ‘bonus payment’ to make up for wages lost while serving in the military- one dollar for each day served on U.S. soil and one dollar and twenty-five cents for every day served overseas. However, the Bonus would not be paid until 1945. Veterans initially agreed, based on the healthy state of the economy (Keaney 1). The Great Depression came and made thousands of veterans unemployed, like most Americans at the time. The veterans felt that their bonus should be paid early so that they could provide food and shelter for themselves and their families (Rank and File Committee 1).

If there was not that much freshwater they could have died because they could have drink some of the water, and if you drink too much salt water you can die. “ ….dug shallow wells to supply themselves with sources of drinking water, but these were vulnerable to droughts,” (Doc A). If the water was vulnerable to drought what were they suppose to drink of the water was vulnerable.
A drought is an occurrence where there is very little rainfall, which results in a shortage of water. Drought can last up to ten years in certain places, especially desert areas. Droughts are extremely difficult to predict, and produce cracked land. They are very dangerous in places with little food and little water. Droughts can also affect farmers, due to it being so hot that their plants die.

There was a slow reservations development for Indians, but a better established land ownership. With certain political figures, who rallied to remove laws, which discriminated against African Americans and rather high religious tolerance, California was taking a distinct shape.
In Franz Kafka’s “In the Penal Colony,” there is no presumption of innocence whatsoever; there is only presumption. “Innocent until proven guilty.” This presumption of innocence is considered to be the foundation of a civilized criminal justice system, as well as within the fundamental rights of mankind. The discovery was reported in the San Francisco newspaper in March but it didn 't cause much commotion due to not many people believing it. What really started it was when one day in May 1848 Sam Brannan, a store owner in stutters creek, filled a bottle with gold dust and basically went around San Francisco yelling “Gold, Gold!
