People are suffering every day on the streets while the federal government is just trying to indirectly solve the problem by letting the individual states deal with it. The government needs to establish a specific federal department that deals with homelessness if they ever hope to get rid of this
While circumstances can vary, an individual’s first choice is rarely to choose homelessness due to the inability to afford housing or other unforeseen circumstances. The support of friends, family, and community programs/shelters are first suggestions when a person becomes displaced. When these suggestions become inadequate, living on the streets is the next favorable/affordable option. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, on a night in January of 2015, there were 564,708 people homeless in the United States (para 3).
One of the biggest issues facing this great nations citizens and even some of our war hero veterans, is that of being homeless. As well as residing in poor income housing and very poor conditions. With the number of homes and land available throughout the country, and the majority of it being owned by private interest and banks is an outrage. If we do not deal with homelessness and poverty, we may end up like Detroit, Michigan.
“1 out of every 100 persons in Europe- or approximately 3 million people [are] homeless,” (Blair 21) states Cornelia Blair, the author of Homeless in America. Not only is this number extremely high, it only accounts to one country; Imagine the number across all 136 countries scattered across the Earth. And the homeless population is constantly on the rise, creating a fear for many who live dangerously close to losing everything. Homelessness is a predicament that affects all people, old and young, and can last from as little as a few days to as long as the rest of their lives. It is a serious problem caused by low income, domestic violence and abuse, and lack of Veteran care, but can be amended by child sponsorships, help from the government,
The social issue that I picked is homelessness. Homelessness is a real issue, even if we don’t always see it. Homelessness doesn’t just mean you don’t have a roof over your head, it means you don’t have food, a good education, a healthy lifestyle, or a warm place to sleep every night. Some people don’t think very highly about homeless people, they think that it's their fault that they are where they are in life. Homelessness is going to end up becoming a bigger problem.

Millions of people including families ,children, elder, babies , veterans live day after day without water ,food or a roof over their heads. The number of homeless, families with children and elder has considerably over the past decade or so. They are together the fast, growing portion of the homeless population. There are together almost 40% of all people who are homeless.
Homeless in America has been growing over the past 20-25 years. over a million people are homeless all over the world. 643,067 people experiencing homelessness of any given second. Most people are spending the night either in homeless shelters or in some sort of short-term transitional housing. Slightly more than a third are living in cars or under bridges or are in some other way living unsheltered.
Raising money to lower homelessness in America would not necessarily be a problem if people took it seriously. Homelessness is often overlooked due to the outstanding amount of money it would take to help the homeless. Though it would probably take a few years, getting the money to help them is possible. Another problem American may face as we help assist the homeless is that we do not know how to help them in the meantime.
Homelessness is not a new problem and for years the government has made efforts towards decreasing the rate of homelessness in America. During the 1980’s, the voices of the homeless were finally heard. In 1987, The McKinney Homeless Assistance Act of 1987 was created.

The status of being homeless can be acquire through different life situations drugs, alcohol or even a natural disaster. Being sympathetic to the dominance of and possibility for homelessness amongst veterans in the United States is essential in order avoid and culminate homelessness among the individuals that have honorably served their country. (Mclean, 2015) California is the wealthiest state in the country but ranked third worst in the extent of homelessness, the second worst in policy, and in the lower half of the US in terms of risk and wellbeing, making it the third worst US state for child homelessness overall. (Mclean, 2015) Rent is increasing as income is decreasing or staying the same.
We see that as helping when really it is just enabling and approving of the situation of the homeless. While it may seem harsh to be taking away necessities such as food away from the homeless, we do have to consider of the improvement of homelessness. Regulations may be the next step into decreasing homelessness, if they want to get the help there should be programs for those who want it. Instead of providing services for the whole population, only provide to those who will improve to leave their life of homelessness so no one will be taken advantage
Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.

Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.
