If Drew thinks like that then his talent won’t take him anywhere either. I assume Drew is looking to get a scholarship to college, but colleges are not looking for just talent, you need the grades and certain averages as well; they go hand and hand. It’s already hard to get a scholarship when you have both, so if you’re lacking in one aspect you can forget about it. This also reminds me of myself. When I reached middle school in grade 7 I just focused, on track everyday, I did not care about my grades and the results showed. I had many people telling me if I wanted to make it big I have to get the grades too. I honestly said, “I will try harder next year” so my parents would stop telling me over and over to focus on my academics as much as track. I did not care at all and continued to do poorly in grade 8 as well, not knowing the consciences. I finally realized the reality of what I was doing when a guy in my track club who had the talent he was even best of his age and represented Canada for the Junior World Championships. But he did poorly in school up until grade 12. He wanted a scholarship, but he didn’t have certain grades or courses for one. This just showed me it doesn’t matter if you have all the talent in the world if your academics aren’t up there too; well your talent means nothing then. That just made me want to work harder now
