Individual Reflection - Megan Plunkett My group included Cian Browne, Rian Dillon, Adam Smith and I. I was the team leader of the group. This involved ensuring people showed up to meetings and that deadlines were met. We all worked together to design the website, choose a social media platform, utilise google analytics and create content. Firstly, our approach to the task involved deciding on the topic our content would surround. We brainstormed a variety of ideas, from fitness to hairdressing, and then decided on makeup artistry. It was important that our website suited the informal tone used in many other beauty blogs and that it was aesthetically pleasing. I decided that a neutral colour palette would be best. The colours nude, black and white were then chosen as the main colours of our website to ensure sufficient contrast and a sleek design. It was my idea to brainstorm lots of blog posts we could create and then divide them up between the group. By deciding in advance what blog posts we would create it removed the stress of having to consistently create new content each week. We then did all of our individual blog posts. Some blog posts were published to the website straight away so our instagram followers would be able to view some content when they clicked on the website link in our bio and some were left in drafts. I approached the task to try and get as much relevant content up in the timeframe provided. From then on we posted fresh content (from the drafts) on a regular basis. Our Instagram posts corresponded with our blog posts. I decided that images that were used within a blog post should also be used on an instagram post with text that provided a call to action to visit our blog. However, when searching for professional advice on products and tutorials, people are much more likely to view blogs by already established professionals. This might explain why our Instagram did better than our website. Through running a Google AdWords campaign in a different module and utilising Google Analytics in this module I have realised it is far easier to gain thousands of impressions for ads and clicks into websites with Google AdWords than it is to get views on websites and improve search engine optimisation through Google
