Two groups that experienced inequalities in social standing in the post-Civil War era were Native Americans and women. Western settlers, for many, many years, showed complete ignorance and lack of appreciation for Native American culture, to say the least. Not only did the settlers automatically assume all the land they discovered was theirs to claim and/or sell, they also committed innumerable crimes against the indigenous peoples. Considering them as “primitives”, without bothering to try learning their language or understanding their culture, the settlers forced the Natives into reservations and took over their homes. Past years of peace and prosperity were brutally ended by these foreign immigrants.
1. What measures would you employ to illustrate just how unequal America is? The measure I would employ in the illustration of how unequal America is would be the wealth distribution observed among different states. The inequality is especially demonstrated by comparing income generation of different families from different states.
To begin, inequality still exists in the United States today because of transgenders getting ban from the military. For example, Trump says that “the U.S government will not accept transgenders to serve in any capacity in the military and that the military should just be focused on the victory and not just by the disruption that transgenders in the military would entail.” This shows that Trump thinks that the LGBT community is a distraction to our society. Trump thinks that they aren’t capable of fighting strong and provide protection to our country. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be here.
Inequality is often associated with racial injustice, but actually goes beyond that and has created new ways for social inequality to exist among various circumstances in our country. It affects millions in terms of their way/ quality of life. In the United States and around the world, civilians struggle to receive adequate health care at the expense of their day jobs, hindering them from this as they cannot afford it. The middle has been struggling for decades over the same issues, yet permanent action has yet to transform the country. The issue of inequality has recinfoced itself in health care and income and continues to manifest itself in our society today leading to social problems in which we cannot escape making it an institutional
One interesting thing the author notes is the wealth inequality in the United States. Even though “1% of the population own nearly half the wealth in the country the American dream persists” (Golash-Boza, pg. 269). People still believe that if you work hard you will succeed. At first glance, it’s clear that white people have a higher percentage of home ownership than any other race. However in saying that, I would like to know what the population totals were by race for each state as well.
Through this reading and the documentary movie that we have watched, it is not hard to figure out how both external and internal factors that formed his personalities. The external factor definitely took a vital part of this formation, since the environment back into that time was hard for African American musicians to gain their rights, and there were so many inequalities existed in the society. It affected his personality for sure by having those experiences. Since he had seen those inequalities happening everywhere to his friends and him, he wanted to fight for their rights, and therefore, it shaped his personality in this way as well. However, as the article has talked about how hard it was for African American musicians only play for love
Income Inequality Income Inequality or “wage gap” is a big topic for freedom fighters and liberals for the simple fact that it isn’t equal for everyone. Because the wage gap is so prominent it's one of the biggest “facts” that discrimination is still apart of everyday American society. The wage gap from these radical interest groups think the economy is get a dollar take a dollar instead of a free flow economy. This misguided idea of the economy is absolutely not true and isn’t at the fault of the Government, but the people.
People around the world have many different political views whether they are going for the same candidate or not. Some people are pro-life, and some aren’t, some people think we need to spend more money to help close our debt, and some people think that we need to just invest it into American businesses. There are people who are Republican, Democratic, Libertarian, you name it in the USA we have it. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave and people interpret it in so many different ways. I am sure that you could find maybe three people with the exact same ideas as you from the big federal money spending problems, to immigration problems, all the way to the other problems such as equality for the LGBT group, or legalizing marijuana in all 50 states.
As James Forbes once said, “When people rely on surface appearances and false racial stereotypes, rather than in-depth knowledge of others at the level of the heart, mind and spirit, their ability to assess and understand people accurately is compromised”. This has been happening in the United States for hundreds of years and will continue for a hundred more years. People always think that their race is the superior race. People judge completely out of exterior looks, they don’t want to get to know them, they just think that based on what someone does on the evening news is what happens everyday with that specific group of people. What people do not understand is that there are just as many people like that in any given group.
We need to make a difference and get everyone equal so we can all live our best lives. Income Inequality in the United States How unequal is the economy in the United States? Inequality has always existed in the U.S. but the gap between the rich and poor has never been as big as it is now. The rich never got torn down even when there were financial crashes, but the poor suffered a lot. Women made 82 cents for every $1 a man made, and African Americans made 78 cents for every $1 white people made, how equal is that?
The election time is the most crucial time every four years in which citizens decide who will represent them and their country. The candidates spend an abundance amount of money to impress the general public about their character and their future goals for the citizens. While every single person has a political stand on which candidate or party they support and which they do not, not all of these people end up making it to the voting ballot. In fact, in regards to the voter turnout, the United States of America experiences a drastically lower number of participation in comparison to other countries. Plenty of reasons interfere with this unfortunately low percentage number and the essential one being the government allowing its citizens to exercise
America prides itself on being one of the most effective democratically governed counties. The idea of the American dream is that all people have equivalent political freedoms and a responsive government. However the effectiveness of social equality is being threatened by increasing inequality in the United States. Economic inequality in the US has expanded drastically. The wealth gap has had drastic changes over the past 35 years.
Therefore, America’s inequality will continue to grow. The main reason for this report is to outline
Poverty can be a vicious cycle for some families that goes from generation to generation. Another personal issue that can lead to poverty is illness and unemployment which puts someone out of work and there is little to no income coming in. Along with these personal issues that I stated there are also many
Social Inequity Paper Social inequality and persecutions are major topics that have been around for ages. Teenagers in modern America are a large group of people that are in need of awareness for these topics, since it is happening everywhere in their home country. Authors write about social inequality and use it as a proactive tool to spread awareness of these issues, and it can be a large impact. These authors write about these issues because sometimes people who have to live with the problems can not.
