Within the framework of the United States, individuals are recognized as having the unalienable right to life and liberty. It doesn’t matter the distinct differences of each person, they are still guaranteed the same rights. People have always expressed their individuality, whether through the way they dress and act or the job they aspire to get. The rights laid out continue to remain the same, but what keeps changing is the place of the individual. The widespread desperation for equality and conformity will subsequently kill the beloved individual.
Although, before the law every person is viewed as being equal, “the physical and moral qualities are unequally distributed” (Cooper 466). Some people are simply more intelligent, athletic, or attractive than others. It may not seem like a big deal but they give people natural advantages over others. Whether it’s being shown by slave civilizations, the effects of waged labor, or even the impact of education, inequality is alive. As societies become more progressive equality is pushed. At first thought, this is a phenomenal thing, but when people start to advance past their peers issues arise. Attempts start at educating all people, making everyone aware of the world around them. Books and media can now reach a wide array of people, but “because they had mass, they became simpler” (Bradbury 50). Far-reaching ideas and words must be made simple in order to accommodate the largest amount of people.
