In 1941, the Secretary of Interior invited Ansel Adams to create a mural size print for the federal building, and as Adams travels to New Mexico, his incredible journey began as he discovered an inevitable photograph. Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico in a gelatin silver print photograph of a scenery town in the late afternoon on November 1, 1941, was taken by Ansel Adams, where at first appeared to be depicting twilight but as he goes through the negative the photo was shown to be shot at night. To briefly describe Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, if you look at the image, the fascinating scenery was set in an all-black, white, and grey, in which just by looking at it we can conclude that the photo is trying to show peacefulness and calmness of the town (Figure 1). If we look at the photograph in historical view, more than a month later, December 7, 1941, is when Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese as well as when the United States entered the 2nd World war. This shows that these events also associate with this photograph. Moreover, Ansel Adams made an interesting composition: the black sky, the white clouds, and the gray landscape. The way Adams positioned his camera that caught the viewers eyes shows that in this image he gave us an illusion three layers with different tones which set the mood of the
