The purpose of this essay is to inform what are the "Leadership Styles" in the Army. CIO states, "Leadership is the ability of an individual or a group of people to influence and guide followers or members of an organization, society or team." (Barney, 2023). Therefore, an individual can apply different styles that will help him to influence others. These leadership styles are Authoritative, Affiliative, Democratic, Coaching, Coercive, and Pacesetting. The first four are the ones that any leader should always apply. Furthermore, it will help them create an excellent climate in the work area. These make the leader look trustworthy and easy to work with, making his subordinates follow him and demonstrate better performance. The last two are very similar. The leaders prefer to order and expect the work to be done perfectly and without delay. In this essay, I will divide these styles by focusing on two types of influence: Commitment and Compliance. That's because research shows that leaders who sit in-between leadership styles deliver the best results." (Sands, 2020). It is essential to have different leadership styles when all days are different in the Army. These styles will allow leaders to work with different ideas and achieve different goals. Before leaders start leading, it is essential that Soldiers thoroughly understand their team's strengths and challenges. It will allow them to develop a strong culture and vision.
