Well waiting to see the specialist they will also recommend staying away from things that can cause you to have a seizure, like swimming and driving. It can be a very complex process to diagnose epilepsy because there can be so many more signs that may or may not be leading to epilepsy such as fainting, migraines, and panic attacks. Epilepsy cannot be confirmed until you have had more than one seizure. It helps doctors to remember what it felt like before, after, and during a seizure. Doctors can run tests on your brain to try and figure out if you have epilepsy. They will do a brain scan to see your brain activity. Epilepsy can be controlled by treatment for most people with the disease. 70% of people living with epilepsy could live a seizure-free life with the use of antiseizure medicines. Some treatment options may include anti-seizure/epilepsy drugs, a special diet, a small procedure to put in a device to help control the seizures, or last resort surgery to remove the part of the brain that is causing the seizures. Some people need to be on treatments their entire life, but if the seizures stop you can stop treatments.
