Halloween; one of the most celebrated holidays across the world. Loved by kids, loved by adrenaline-junkies, and people who just love to have a spine-chilling experience. But the question still stands… Where did this profound holiday come to existence in the history of our world? Is it a matter of a deeper religious safety? Does it keep the world’s ambience in shape? Do we really over exaggerate the true meaning of all hallow’s eve by the traditions we so commonly follow nowadays? Was Halloween meant to be a time of fear and exhilarating times of false peril; or was it meant to show a sacrifice of crop to a higher power? The first idea of halloween can be traced back to the ancient Celts, who thrived in the now known lands of Ireland, U.K., and Northern France. The Celts believed that on October 31st, the boundaries of the living. In translation, Samhain means summer’s end, but, Samhain was also the druid prince known as the Lord of the Dead. It is believed that the lost loved ones would return back into reality, as ghosts, and return to the homes they had once dwelt in. We perceive ghosts as evil spirits who saunter and torment us; however, the Celts believed they were peaceful apparitions. To escort the spirits out, the people would dress up in costumes and lead them to the edge of town and “see them off” in a sense.
