I have a few people in my family that are veterans. Their service means alot to me. I admire them for their for their bravery and loyalty to their country. They inspire me in many ways such as to be brave even if the situation requires only a small act of bravery, and to speak out against something I know is wrong. To me veterans need to be honored every day for their service.
The definition for veteran is a patriot who shows great courage and bravery and is also a defender of America and its freedom and is a hero to their country. I think that the Veterans should be honored for these three reason: the sacrifice that they went through, the respect they went through, and the freedom that they fought to give us. They Sacrificed a lot of things for our country. Many people gave up time with their family and left their homes. It takes so much time and effort to be in the army or military.
Ninety-eight years ago, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice was declared between Germany and the Allied Nations in World War I. One year later, it was celebrated as Armistice Day to honor the cause of world peace. After World War II and the Korean War, it was renamed Veterans Day, dedicated to American veterans from any war. The transition from Armistice Day to Veterans Day seems appropriate, for we would not have peace if we did not have veterans. But the implication that veterans are mere preservers of order is a vast misrepresentation; they do much more for our nation.
Honoring the brave men and women who served our country is very important. Veteran’s day, which was originally called Armistice day, is the one date on the calendar that is dedicated to them. Simply telling someone in uniform, “Thank you for your service” could make their day. Simply respecting your country is honoring our veterans, because they worked extremely hard to protect America. To take honoring veterans a step further, you could write a letter to someone you know who served in the armed forces on November eleventh.
What is a Veteran? Federal law, moral code and military service define a veteran as "Any, Any, Any"... A military veteran is Any person who served for Any length of time in Any military service branch. However, they are much more than that. These people gave their ALL in the battlefield for us, so we can safely walk down the street, while our children play without fear of losing this freedom.

Everyone has something so important to them that they are willing to sacrifice anything for. One eighth-grader strives to get her school’s traditional Veterans Day Ceremony back. Thirteen year old, Katelyn Kurovski found out three weeks ago that her school, Monticello Trails Middle School, might not be doing their traditional Veterans Day Ceremony for 2017. During class on October 30th, her teacher’s phone rang, and the principal of another school asked when their school was celebrating Veterans Day. The class broke out in questions when they overheard the teacher say that they had not seen anything on the calendar for Veterans Day.
A veteran is a person who has served our country but has now retired. They have fought to keep our country safe, risked their lives for us, and have died for us. They have honored our country, so why not honor them to. I honor veterans by saying the pledge of Allegiance every morning, giving donations, remembering veterans day, saying thank you whenever I see a veteran and by listening to their story’s when I talk to them. I think honoring veterans is so important because they have done so much for us.
So tomorrow … we must continue to honor them. Our veterans protect American values … They protect and defend the constitution. They have given us the chance to live in freedom today and an opportunity to look forward to tomorrow. They have given us every day … and they have protected every freedom.
