Equality. Opportunity. Prosperity. The American Dream paints a vision in which each of these ideals are ever present and available to all individuals inside the vast border of the nation. The notion is that every individual can, through concentrated efforts and dedication, improve their own socioeconomic class and climb up the hierarchy.
In the speech “How to Talk to Veterans About War” Wes Moore is trying to convey the message that the saying “thank you for your service” is only a start to the conversation a person should be having with a veteran. To do this, Moore tells the audience his story. Moore starts off by saying that he got into trouble as a child, and that his mother decided to send him to military school. After he graduated, he gave her the papers to sign up to become an army officer, which she then signed (Moore). Moore explains that he didn’t sign up to go to war, and that he thought he might serve on a weekend or a few weeks out of the year; however when 9/11 happened that thought process changed.
Missouri Veterans Commission is a state agency that provides veteran benefits. It was established by the Missouri Statute. The state of Missouri is one of the top states for veteran benefits. The size of a hierarchy varies depending on a variety of things.

Patriotism is the dedication; loyalty; devotion; respect; faithful etc. Being a patriot means do whatever it takes to honor your country. In the essay, Veterans Day: Never Forget Their Duty, Mike Christian was a POW, captured by the Vietnam. As stated in the text, he sewed an American flag so him and the other POW’s that were captured could say the pledge of allegiance. He knew he’d get in lots of trouble if he would get caught.
Public space is a shared landscape that all citizens have the potential to encounter. These areas, especially in major cities like Philadelphia, are saturated with statues depicting historical figures and a variety of artwork. Memorials are also included in this public area and become a representation of a certain memory for the public to share. When conflicts occur, such as a major war, more than just the government and the military are involved. A nations economy is torn apart, and certain industries and their materials become focused on the war effort.
Do you have a veteran in your family and live in Kentucky? If you do then you must be bamboozled when Veteran's Day rolls around and you don't get to spend the day with them and thank them for their services to this great nation and preserving our freedom. Less than 1% of Kentucky's schools are on a delay or canceled. You may ask "But this is Veteran's Day one of the most important days to our nation!?! Should schools really be on regular schedule?"
The exact definition of a veteran is a person who has had long service or experience in a particular occupation or field, for example a person who has served or is serving in the armed forces. Today, there are 21.8 million veterans in the United States, who dedicated years of hard work and commitment to our country. There are many different ways that someone could have been involved in fighting for our country. There are five different branches of the military.
In conclusion, we should always remember those who fought and are still fighting for us not just one time a year but everyday. We should be thankful for a veteran, because we have freedom to do the things we love where some countries do not get that privilege. We can hunt , fish, play basketball and see our friends and family. Some countries don’t get the freedom that we do.
While I was gathering my information for this speech, my brother passed by. Out of curiosity, I asked, “Do you know what a Veterans Day is?” His exact words were, “Yeah, we get off school that day.”
America as made it through countless hardships, and we have won many wars, to gain the hope for the future we have today. My grandfather, who fought in Vietnam, is a hero. I appreciate what he and our founding fathers and veterans have given us, they gave us freedom and hope for the future.

America is a “land of living hope, woven of dreams, aflame with longing and desire” people who come to America come here to get a better life or career. Most people who come to America for a few years think they are Americans because they wave a flag, but they don't know the true meaning of what it means to be and American. An American is someone who will die for it’s country, someone who emigrated here for more opportunities, and someone who is encouraged by the history of America. In “Veterans Day: Never Forget Their Duty”, by John Sidney McCain he Defines his own personal interpretation of what an American is.
“It was my father who taught us that an immigrant must work twice as hard as anybody else, that he must never give up.” This quote by Zinedine Zidane shows how hard The Americans Dream is to immigrants. This essay will explain a little about immigrants coming to the United States looking to achieve the American Dream and their struggles and accomplishments. Also this essay will talk about two speeches from the mid-1900’s for both Martin Luther King Jr. and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Immigrants have many ups and downs through their live in America.
The most important quality in becoming a successful USMA cadet and Army officer is being able to reflect on one's flaws and strive for self-improvement. As an active member and teacher in my church, I had the responsibility of supervising and teaching the younger children about biblical passages and elucidating certain concepts. These duties proved arduous as the children would often become stubborn and refused to listen. Too stubborn to try and understand the root of their lackadaisical attitudes, I believed it was their inability as students to learn that was to blame. However, it wasn’t until a fellow teacher enlightened me that I was able to see my mistakes of shifting blame to others.
