The Industrial Revolution was an era in which the production and selling of goods went from family business to large scale corporations. This revolution caused many changes that have affected the way life is today including the expansion of railroads, rapid growth of cities, and the introduction of factories. In my opinion, however, the most significant change and the underlying reason behind the whole revolution was the transition from hand production methods to machines. Machines such as the mechanical reaper and cotton gin allowed for the mass production of cotton. Other machines such as the spinning jenny allowed this cotton to be woven at a significantly higher rate. The machines were very efficient and profitable but there was a need
