At first I did not understand why people did not like the horse racing industry but as I read deeper and deeper in the articles I figured out why horse racing can be such a dangerous sport. Why is it dangerous you ask? Well some of the jockeys care about winning then they do about the horse. This can spell bad trouble as we can see. Firsts off, as most owners and trainers have little more than a short-term financial interest in horses, there is little continuity and accountability over Thoroughbreds’ lifetimes, leaving them to suffer terribly. What this means is that they really do not care much about the well being of the horse they just want to make a quick buck of the horse. As during the race the horses are really hurt better badly. As I came across this article it really hit me that horse racing has more cons than pros. In the article is says and I quote “Behind the romanticized façade of Thoroughbred horse racing is a world of injuries, drug abuse, gruesome breakdowns, and slaughter. While spectators show off their fancy outfits and sip mint juleps, horses are running for their lives.” As you can see this is a terrible thing that happens in horse racing, The worst thing about it is that it will never change because, the horse racing industry has become too large for it to stop now. As you can conclude horses take a beating when they race, it has became to much about winning
