Reading this book, I was reminded of the life lessons I have learned growing up around horses and how much in common there is with the high-ends and people such as myself. Growing up, handling equine was just common knowledge for everyone, and because of that I’ve learned that there needs to be a bond and some trust between the rider and horse.
Rumble the Bison should be nominated for Mascot Hall of Fame because he went to Schools to excite many kids and staff. As a general rule, the mascot character should be able to demonstrate a major impact on their community. Rumble shows this rule by, according to Newsok.com, “Students at Edmond’s West Field Elementary School were surprised recently by a visit from Oklahoma City Thunder forward D.J. White and the team’s new mascot, Rumble the bison. As White read the book "Brendan and Belinda and the Slam Dunk!”
Video from Shannon’s friend: https://youtu.be/OSE3DlQhz5g BLM on Today: https://youtu.be/VQvNFE95RhY Today, there are more wild horses being “held” in facilities than currently in the wild. Since the 19th century, the number of wild horses free in the West have declined by 98%. The practices of removing American horses off public lands is decimating their numbers. Animal waste runoffs or feedlots are farms that specialize in cattle or hogs. These animals are stayed in a very small area of land and they are raised on hormones and grains that make them big and fat for slaughter. Feedlots help provide a lot of protein in America but feedlots contain a lot of the animals poop and other bad substances that can pollute the air and the water with their runoff. Pros of having feedlots is that they produce meat that satisfies U.S. consumers, they’re efficient, and cheap. Cons of having feedlots is that manure contains nitrogen and phosphorus; if not managed properly, they can pollute the nearby lakes, streams, rivers, or oceans, and antibiotic use increases genetic resistance to bacteria in the human body.

In any association or business change is inevitable. Whether it be a good or bad, change is bound to happen. The sport of rodeo is no different, and it just so happens that a big change is happening this year. The Elite Rodeo Association has been formed and is causing a lot of controversy in the world of rodeo. The ERA’s goal is to make rodeo on the same caliber as other professional associations and increase its popularity.
What some people do not understand that these horses are loved so much. It doesn’t matter whether it is a barrel horse of rope horse. After they work, we pet them, give them treats, let them relax, and sometimes they get a massage or ice on their legs. Source A, “The Sport - the Life- of Rodeo” says, “Just like in basketball, there is a team. My team consists of my horses, my parents and everyone who helps me keep my horses working, including my vet ad my farrier, who shoes the horses,” (Pallesen).
Romans were considered a very “civilized” empire, for their time, but actually they were more advanced than civilized. A civilized people don’t watch humans being torn to shreds just for pure entertainment. The Romans had no basic understanding for human rights. The articles “Gladiators” and “Senate Debate” discuss the pros and cons of Gladiator fighting. This Horrible practice ruined the reputation of the Roman Empire.

Equine Reproduction and Genetic Engineering Application: Is It Safe and Ethical? The use and procedures developed by modern technology for the purpose of equine reproduction better known as "genetic engineering" has caused considerable concern regarding how safe are the results and is it ethical to alter nature? With the proliferation of new applications and scientific procedures in equine reproduction a lot of the older methods have been abandoned for new or more convenient and less costly procedures. Some of these new procedures include artificial insemination or A1, selective use of the equine genes, and the use of chemicals to effectively change what nature has perfected through a selective process known as evolution.

Imagine sitting on the bleachers cheering on the jockeys and their horses, but, multiple red flags are being set off. Thoroughbreds collapse on the ground from exhaustion and jockeys begin whipping the horses. This is no sport, this is a death run. Even the winners and losers do not matter in this “sport” when they stop bringing in the greens or receive an injury on the track.
Horse racing is a highly controversial topic in the equestrian world. Many people find horse racing as a great form of entertainment, while others see it as borderline abusive to the horse. Personally, I agree with the latter statement. Racehorses typically start their training at just 1 year old.
A veterinarian plunged a syringe full of liquid into Eight Belles, and her squirming body went calm. Spectators were in shock; the curtain that disguised the ugly truth about horse racing was lifted, and people did not like what they saw. Horse racing generates income for many people throughout America, but is this money supporting the unnecessary deaths of horses? Eight Belles death is just one of many incidents that have provoked questions about the horse racing world. Gambling, drugs, and unethical behavior cloud the sport that many Americans know and love.
