How do you travel? By a car or by a bus? The Wright Brothers gave us another way to travel, the airplane. Many people take airplanes for granted such as using them for a business trip or for going on vacation. A lot of people use airplanes to travel for vacation overseas. For example, if you wanted to go to Hawaii, you couldn’t drive, so therefore you would need to take an airplane. Many people also don’t realize that without airplanes, we wouldn’t be able to travel out of the country as easily. Traveling overseas would be much more complicated and going on vacation would be much harder too. The Wright Brothers created the first successful airplane in 1903. Wilbur and Orville Wright took their first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. They created a self propelled heavier than normal air craft. You may be curious on how their first flight went. According to “The Wright Brothers,” their first flight was 12 seconds long, it went 120 feet, and approximately 30 miles per hour. They were encouraged by many other people who have also tried to complete this difficult task, and failed. Airplanes affect the world in many different ways. Along with cars, trains, and ships, airplanes provide a much faster and more efficient way of traveling to far away places. For example, if you want to go to a destination out of our country you can take an airplane which would make the trip much quicker. Also, if you don’t want to drive for 12 hours, you could just take an airplane and you could be there in under half the time it would take to drive. Many people use airplanes to get somewhere overseas. If we didn’t have airplanes, it would be much more challenging to do that.
