Permanent Change With Cole Getting attacked by a giant bear alone in the forest and then having to lay on the ground without being able to use of an arm or legs would change the way the world is seen, would it not? Maybe having to sit in a freezing river then having to carry a huge rock up a mountain might change something. If forgiving anyone and everyone who had hurt you and you moved on, don’t you think that some little part of you might change? In the book Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen, Cole was able to make permanent change by having a near death experience, his morning routine, and learning to forgive those who had hurt him. With doing these actions he learned to move on from his past and become a better person.
Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen is a story written about a boy named Cole Matthews who is a nuisance to everyone around him. This delinquent has been in trouble with the law since he was a mere child. His latest crime? Almost beating a kid to death after a boy named Peter told on him for robbing a hardware store. Cole is sent to court where they will decide his future.
My opinion is that Touching Spirit Bear is a dramatic and breathtaking book where people learn to heal, forgive, and trust. Cole, the main character, is trying to live life to the fullest and find himself. He makes poor decisions... He is the bully... Will he ever learn from his mistakes?
The boy, the baby faced criminal, he thinks he is all that and now he is in a hospital, this boy’s name is Cole Matthews. Cole ended up in this situation because he decided to brag about breaking into a convenience store and hospitalized a student in his grade named Peter driscoll. Cole got sent to a island from the result of circle justice now think about that you're putting a teenage boy on a island all alone with emotions rushing through his mind and testosterone flowing through his veins, do you really expect him to just stay there and try not to escape at all? Now Cole thought this was going to be easy and all so guess what he did he burnt down his shelter and all his materials needed for survival.
Kermode bears are important for many reasons. The idea of the Kermode bear started with Frances Kermode of the royal British army the bear was named after him because many people thought he was very important. Sometimes these bears can help states attract tourist which helps the state raise money to save the bear’s habitats and the bears themselves from being endangered. These bears are important to people in so many different ways like the bears help hunters in hunting season, they also help give people the meat and bones they need they need to survive and to help make a profit (Local Distilleries’ Fight for Spirit Bears). The Kermode bears are also called the spirit bear because of their white ghostly look which makes them important to some
Those rats are numerous.” Lewis would continue to describe that the prairie dogs covered almost 4 acres and created little holes in the ground. The Corps Of Discovery also encountered a fearsome animal known as the grizzly bear. In another journal entry, Lewis describes that Private Willam Bratton had “shot a brown bear which immediately turned on him and pursued him a considerable distance but he had wounded it so badly that it could not overtake him.” The grizzly bear was the most feared mammal among the group, as it stood taller than a human and was resilient to gunfire.
Author Micere Keels once said, ¨Behavior is the language of trauma. Children will show you before they tell you they are in distress¨ Cole Matthews, a troubled 15-year-old gives signs he needs help; however, his signs were not heard quickly enough. In the novel Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikealson, Cole Mattews, a young teenager suffering from abuse and much more, uses his only instinct taught to him and blindly beats Peter Driscoll, a wimpy freshman, for ratting him out. This all brought attention to the problems Cole faced way before Peter came into the picture and finally gave Cole the room to heal from his abusive father that he needed. The author believes that rage and anger that was influenced by role models blind us, ruin relationships,
In crow bring daylight the Inuit people live in a half year of darkness and half year of daylight. In the story the Inuit’s gave thanks “They are always kind to crow, for it was he who brought them the light.” At the same time when grizzlies walked upright Indians living around Mount Shasta would never kill a grizzly bear. For example “Whenever a grizzly killed an Indian his body was burned on the spot.” There are cast stones that will pile up in place of death.
“Something very beautiful happens to people when their world has fallen apart: a humility, a nobility, a higher intelligence emerges at just the point when our knees hit the floor.” (Marianne Williamson). Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen, focuses on a boy named Cole who doesn’t care about anything and does whatever he wants. He ends up beating up a fellow student and goes to jail for it, but has a chance to get out by going to an island to “change” for the better. In fact he does end up changing for the better and overcomes some of his big challenges.
The hike from Yosemite Valley to Nevada Falls was the first step of the adventure. The journey on foot from the valley involved encounters a few different types of furry creatures. I saw a black bear with its cubs on my journey to the Nevada Falls. The large black bears were in their natural habitat with the lush, beautiful landscape surrounding them. When I approached the falls I was filled with awe at the sight of the enormous stream of water flowing from the falls.
I think that SeaWorld is an amazing facility. I love the fact that they rescue sea creatures from their inevitable death. I love the fact that children love to come here. I love the fact that this place causes children to subconsciously learn something. I love to bring my kids here on the weekend to watch the shows that the trainers put on with the orcas.
Cole’s Life Conflict What if the Cole was the Spirit Bear? What if he was really fighting with himself the whole time? It would make sense, whenever the Spirit Bear was around Cole, it is feeling the same way that Cole was.
Have you ever felt close to a certain animal, as if you share the same traits? I share the traits of a lot of animals, and was hard pressed to narrow it down to four. In Language Arts class, we did a novel study on the book Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen. In this novel, the main character is on an island and was told to carve a totem of his spirit animals. We, too, were forced to create a totem.
The book Ghost of Spirit Bear is a sequel to the book Touching Spirit Bear. I enjoyed this book because it has a good story and plot. While this book is not as adventurous or moving as the first book Ghost of Spirit Bear still has a good plot and creates vivid pictures in your mind while reading. I prefered Touching Spirit Bear over this book because it has more adventure and a more shocking story. The book consists mainly of the same characters but more were added when Peter and Cole go to school.
It turned out that a wolf lived in a cave at the top of the area. This is a major reason that Alaska and national parks are similar because most of the national parks that have forests have
