Myths are traditional stories that explain some natural or social phenomenon, typically involving super natural begins or events. When Grizzlies Walked Upright and Crow the Daylight are great myths with similarities like earthly elements, human character, and great results.
The myths both have some earthly elements. In When Grizzlies Walked Upright they were on Mount Shasta which had snow, ice, and trees. For example “Wherever his finger touched, a tree grew. The snow melted in his footsteps, and the water ran down in rivers.” In crow bring the daylight it was on earth which had trees, ice, and water. For instance “He flapped down to a tree and rested. The crow lowered his gaze and realized that he was near a village the lay beside a wide river.” Both are very similar with trees, ice, and snow but are different in fire, wind darkness and clouds.

In crow bring daylight the Inuit people live in a half year of darkness and half year of daylight. In the story the Inuit’s gave thanks “They are always kind to crow, for it was he who brought them the light.” At the same time when grizzlies walked upright Indians living around Mount Shasta would never kill a grizzly bear. For example “Whenever a grizzly killed an Indian his body was burned on the spot.” There are cast stones that will pile up in place of death. They both have great endings because grizzly won’t get killed and the Inuit’s will always have light for have of a year. They are different because in the Grizzlies myth the bears had a punishment by having to walk on all fours and could not speak
