Hello everyone, it is a pleasure to be here. I would like to talk to you about veterans and the many challenges they may experience when they return home from deployment. One of the biggest problems that veterans experience is with PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder. It can cause anxiousness, paranoia, weight problems, anger, stress, and emotional issues. The article from the Daily Iowan Life Broken by Lack of Treatment, Christine Nicholas says her boyfriend was in the military and went to seek out care but his problems weren't severe enough to be treated at the VA. Christine had seen her boyfriend out in the back yard and he seemed ok but a couple of days later she found out through social media that he was having issues. Days later he had committed suicide. He had a short temper and was angry. The VA had only gave him sleeping medicine which was unneeded for him. Without enough support veterans can run into problems with drug abuse, and health and communication issues. Research has shown that many veterans are turned away and denied service from the VA. In 2010 more than 986,000 veterans under the age 64 had been without support or help for years and many times they were turned away from the VA. The treatment was inadequate, or the wait time was incredible. More than 20 veterans commit suicide a day with out help/support and throughout the years the veteran suicide rate has increased. The VA will only treat severe problems and not all veterans get the help they need. One of the reasons is that they just do not have the appropriate staff. The VA had hired 196 new psychiatrist and doctors. With the rest of the money the VA only give some money for treatment but the rest of it should be enough to be treated so they are turned away and sent home without anything or no help and this causes PTSD to get
