Web. 8 Dec. 2014. In my book there were a lot of conflict between the whites and blacks. The whites were plantation owners and the blacks were slaves. Throughout the book there were a lot of symbols but the most important symbol was the tractor. The tractor represented the blacks did on the plantation, the tractor was the primary tool that pushed the blacks off the land. Another symbol was sugar cane it represented when blacks worked the lands. All the symbols in the book has an important meaning. The houses and buidlings were made by black hands. I feel as if the blacks and whites have worked together most the things that happened wouldn’t have happened like all the fights and murders that took place. For example there was a white football player and a black football from the story they were successful because they worked together. Things would have been easier if the whites and blacks worked together instead of fighting each other. They were bullied by whites. Even this man Charlie who was scared of whites all his life because he has been mistreated by them. There was so much hate when a lot of people were confessing to have being the cause of Beau’s death. There was a fight between the whites and blacks, Sheriff Mapes was wounded Charlie and Luke Will died at the end of the fight. The whites and blacks that survived the fight were brought to trial. The were not allowed to touch any gun for five years. Mathu was blamed for Beau’s death, it was kind of obvious he was the murder. Luke Will has led a gang of white guys down to Sheriff Mapes forcing him to let them get to
