When creating my formal lesson plan, “Transcontinental Railroad: Big Business, Industry, and Expansion,” I originally intended to create a lesson plan that focuses on a large, student-centered activity in which students were to act out groups from the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads in a classroom-sized board game. Unfortunately, that particular lesson was too lengthy as it would take multiple days to complete. Therefore, I created a new lesson plan that took turns in being both student and teacher-centered to ensure that the material will be covered more efficiently. The AVID program has had a positive impact in my academics, and in my life by helping me focus, enrich, and solidify my goals. I can say with full confidence that AVID has become an integral part of my High School year that equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in college. As an immigrant who came to the United States five years ago and English being my third language, the AVID program challenged me to think critically and strive to learn more. Personality wise, there are major changes that I observed once I joined the program.
It would be remiss of me to try and write about the adversities I have faced as a high school student attending Blythewood High School, without first reflecting on the many blessings I have been awarded. I attend a wonderful school with some of the best teachers in South Carolina who provide quality education and the tools that I must use to succeed in any field of life. I was also fortunate enough to grow up in a nuclear household with two educated parents who were able to help me with anything that I lacked in, whether that may be hiring a tutor for me or sitting at the kitchen table late at night to help me finish my homework. The adversities that I have faced are miniscule in comparison to some of the students that I sit right next to in class, but I have had my share of difficulties too. I remember starting my freshman year at Blythewood High School thinking about all the changes that I would have to face, transitioning from Kelly Mill Middle School to this large campus in this little town of Blythewood.
Through implement activities in this classroom, I observed that children have capacity to use materials in variety of ways to learn and explore base on their experiences and interests. Even though I have planned my activity and image how children might approach to the materials, I restrain instructions and let children express how they play and learn. I stay beside to observe and assist when children needed. It is treasure to see how children excited to learn and be creative. In the classroom, I’m sensitive to individual differences and abilities.

The medical profession absolutely could benefit from having professionals who come from a strong academic background, but it also needs professionals who strive to uphold Christian values within their daily lives. The values I’m referring to are characteristics such as compassion and integrity. Human compassion is at the very heart of the medical profession. It is the compassion that is nurtured by nurses, PA’s, and physicians which transforms the clinical and overwhelming medical world into something more humanistic and comforting.
As the admission committee is reviewing my academic history, a strange glitch may occur - an entire year of high school has completely vanished into space. Yes, I am a non-traditional high school student chosing the path of early graduation. High school is too immature for my taste. Everything is based on popularity and everyone is, negatively, connected in one way or another, resulting in judgmental opinions lurking in every hallway, classroom, cafeteria. For me, high school is not and never will be identified as "the best four years of my life."
The eleventh of May, two-thousand twelve, my world collapsed. It was as if every piece of my life was crumbling into a pile of brokenness. David Martin Pearson of eighteen years, had passed away from a brutal fight against brain cancer. David showed me there is more to life than battles, devastating occurrences, and depression. Since the passing of my brother, my life has completely changed to becoming a leader and taking a stand for those who are unable to fight.

Hsun Tzu as a great scholar and philosopher was born 300 BCE in North Central China. He argues that for one to become virtue, he or she should change the feelings and behavioral trails of all mankind. He was also a spoke person of education and articulated that by extreme training and loyalty to learning could result in virtue. In addition, he relates the process of teaching a child the right way to live as being difficult, but if done properly the process will live forever and will transfer from generation to another generation. In other word, he was a brilliant Chinese philosopher who wrote figuratively and base his writing on situation of the real world that could be easily argued.
During the duration of this course I have learned many things about technology and how it is now tied to education. Looking back at the Literacy Checklist, I have found two subjects I need to work on and two subjects I feel I have mastered a greater understanding of. The first subject I need to work on is being able to describe the P21 criteria for preparing 21st century learners. I do not understand this as strongly as hoped, although I will continue to learn more about the P21 criteria and 21st century learner as I achieve my educational and professional goals.
The diversity of student backgrounds, abilities and learning styles makes each person unique in the way he or she reacts to information. The intersection of diverse student backgrounds and active learning needs a comfortable, positive environment in which to take root. Dr. King continues by explaining, “Education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals.” From back then to today’s society, kids are failing because they lack those morals that they need to succeed.
This study is anchored on John Dewey’s Theory of Experience (Fishman & McCarthy, 1998). Dewey postulated that while “all genuine education comes about through experience it does not mean that all experiences are genuinely or equally educative.” (Dewey, 1938) This conviction that many experiences were miseducative led him to develop a criteria for defining educative quality of experience. He elaborated on these criteria as the two fundamental principles of experience.
