Intensive mothering creates inequality within the home for many women. In other words, women take on more unpaid work within the home which, creates more stress for women. Domestic labour is not regulated, it is unpaid and is often taken for granted even though it is so important for a household (Luxton & Corman, as cited in Mandell & Duffy, 2011, p.219).
