Another source also agrees that Spain wanted to spread Christianity. According to document E it says “What is more appropriate and beneficial for these barbarians than to become subject
In the church there were two popes who had different ideas on small issues but very huge in their religion. This became very controversial and soon both of the popes excommunicated each other, this was called the Great Schism, this occurred in 1054. This Great Schism created two branches of Christianity, Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox, this caused a split in the church but it allowed the churches to have their beliefs and take their own actions. In 1060 the church tried to conquer Spain, where the Muslims were causing the Spanish Reconquista. This Reconquista can show us that the Roman Church was gaining control and power, and

In the environment of like following people the peace, harmony and security in that faith is strong.
The Crusades even caused the relationship between Jews and Muslims to worsen. The Crusaders acts were also negative because they didn’t just destroy cities and communities, they also destroyed empires. The Crusades caused so much destruction to cities and communities, and also cost many innocent lives lost. They even fought for no reason, but to take their fury out!
The Crusades affected the lives of the followers Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths. However, the Jews were impacted the most during this time in the Crusades with only negative outcomes. Almost all of the people following the Jewish faith were tortured by Christians because of what the forefathers had done in which they were getting back at the Jews for killing Jesus for no reason. The Jewish chronicler in 1096 stated, “Let us first avenge ourselves on them and exterminate them from among our nations so that the name of Israel will no longer be remembered, or let them adopt our faith,” (Document D). The Christians forced the Jews to either leave, die, or adopt the Christian faith.
Spain was a Catholic country governed by Ferdinand of Aragon and
The Crusades were a violent series of battles that Christians fought against Muslims in order to gain back the holy land, Jerusalem. The Christians felt threatened by the intimidating rule of the Islamic Empire, and their response was the first Crusade. These attacks continued and grew unsuccessful throughout many years, and are often due to the intense bond between Christians and God, however there are other influences, like wealth and power. Some argue also that the actions committed during these events were not necessarily “barbaric”, considering the historical time period. The Crusades should be remembered as a series of attacks with a variety of motives and influences that were violent and barbaric.
During a long period of rising tensions, roughly 100-200 years before the first Crusade, this evidence is abundant in Western Europe. Prior to the Crusades, a changing theological mindset in Western Europe is one factor that leads to an increase in these attacks. “The other main adverse factor affecting the Jews was the rise of a highly emotional, and at times, militant, kind of Christianity. Now the traditionally hostile bishop received popular support when they rallied against the Jews and often exerted pressure or violence on Jews to obtain their conversion” This passage from Norman Cantor's "The Encyclopedia of the Middle Ages", suggests that a new type of Christianity contributed to the heightened oppression felt by Jews.
The Christians supported the Islamic religion, shown through the Pact of Umar, which was an agreement made between the Muslims and Christians of Syria after Muslims conquered much of the Middle East. Through the Pact of Umar, the Christians stated that they “will not strike any Muslim,” “will honor the Muslims and rise up in [their] assemblies when they wish to take their seats,” and “will not refuse the Muslims entry into [their] churches” (Document 3). Like the Mongols, the Christians greatly benefitted the Muslim conquerors, since they were accepting and tolerating the Islamic religion. Without this tolerance, war may have been fought and bring much havoc to the people of the Middle East, due to two different religions clashing and disagreeing. However, because of the tolerance shown in the Christians, Christianity and Islam coexisted and both thrived as religions.
The Vietnam War was one of the most controversial conflicts in American history. Lasting from 1955 to 1975, the war was fought between communist North Vietnam and South Vietnam, which was backed by the United States. Despite massive military and economic support, the United States ultimately lost the war. This essay will examine the factors that contributed to the United States' defeat in the Vietnam War.
At this time Spain and Portugal were being enforced with a powerful royal government and religious orthodoxy by exploiting the Muslims and Jews. They were
These sudden changes for so many people prompted an array of religious, political, and economic changes throughout medieval Europe. The Crusades greatly impacted the two religions involved. Christian attacks and massacres of the Muslims encouraged bitterness and hostility between these groups of people. In addition to fighting with the Muslims, passing Christian armies often massacred and sacked entire Jewish communities without any provocation.
Christians of different faiths interacted with one another and they also interacted with Jews and Muslims. Treating your neighbor with respect was a Christian ideal, and it precipitated the tendency for neighbors to tolerate their neighbors who did not share their religious beliefs. Another reason people of different faiths tolerated one another was because they relied on each other for services. The divisions between social classes led to religious toleration among the same social class.
In the essay, “ The Role of Religion in Modern Society”, Dalai Lama, The preeminent religious authority in Buddhism reveals the reason behind why religion has been a major source of conflict throughout the history, and how inter-religious harmony is the key to overcoming conflict of the first sort. He goes deeper into the similarities between different religion and identifies the obstacles that obstruct inter-religious harmony by developing ways to overcome them. He believes religion plays a vital role in the modern society by shaping the person's spiritual qualities rather than making him a better religious person than the other. Dalai Lama expounds that religious practice can help a person cope with adversity than those who don't.
