Interprofessional Education Interview Activity – Spring 2017
1. Before interviewing your partner(s), what did you hope to gain from this experience? Please be specific in your response.
Before interviewing my partners I was expecting to gain a better understanding of other health care professions’ study process, curriculum, fields to work after graduation. I hoped to obtain a trustful, first hand information from students like myself, who would be able to tell me not only the benefits of being in their profession, but also, downsides and hardships that they face during the school and upon graduation. I was excited to meet my future health care peers and partners with whom I will be working closely in a few years.
2. Did the experience meet your expectations? Please explain your answer.

One of the students in my group is a nursing student who is graduating in a few months. Not only he was able to tell about his decision to become a nurse in the first place, his studying experience, requirements for entering the program, but also he was very clear and honest about his concerns about health care reform, constantly changing insurance policies, and disconnections between different health care professionals. I was able to understand his concerns and agree on issues that health care system is facing right now with constantly changing lows and “best practices”. The other student that was assigned to us is studying social work in Masters Program. I learn a lot of new things about her program such as license exam that they have to pass upon graduation and possibilities to advance her degree after masters program to independent clinical psychotherapist. She also expressed her concern regarding the issue of health insurance
