After doing all of the Elevations and Myers-Briggs tests, then receiving the results that I am an innovator, I thought it was very fitting for me to head in the direction of business. I really like the concept of business and my dad owning his own chiropractic practice, I was thinking about following in his footsteps and becoming a chiropractor, then eventually taking over his practice when he decides to retire.

The next step after doing my personality tests and deciding a job to pursue, I interviewed two very successful businessmen, that I could get ahold of, to pick at their brains a little bit and to see what they thought about the profession they are in. Ken owns Valley Communications, Inc., a very strong telecommunications service provider company. We did the interview at Starbucks, before one of his work meetings. Ken is probably the most intense person I have ever talked to, especially when talking about something he is so passionate about. I do appreciate him being so informative because I know he cares about what he does, and I could tell he was trying to give me the best, most honest answers he could. I very much so appreciate the type of businessman Ken is. When I asked him what motivates him, he replied saying his employees. Ken gets a lot of joy out of seeing his company do well, but he gets more joy out of seeing how well his company can do for him, and also how it benefits everyone's lives that work for him. When talking to Ken about whether I should be a businessman or not, he said that the profession is not something you can flip the light switch to. He is constantly thinking about his company and almost never gets a break. The best business to own he told me, was a business that has recurring revenue. That would be the most stress free way to approach building a company. I did want to go more in depth with these type of questions with Ken so I started asking him about whether it is even worth owning a business or not nowadays. It was a little frustrating to think about because I was lost for a long time in trying to find a profession that I would want to do for the rest of my life and after deciding that, I had the same lost feeling that I had before.

A few weeks ago, it was my birthday and I had some family over to my house for dinner. At the dinner table, my family was asking me questions about my career path that I obviously could not answer honestly at that time because I did not know. My uncle Tom, a fire chief in Sacramento, jokingly asked me why I don't join him at the firehouse and ‘become an arson inspector or somethin’.
