How would you like if your society invented something that changed your life? The Mesopotamians were the first society to use wheels. Their wheels were not the wheels that we see nowadays, they were made of wood. The wheel was very helpful because it could be used in a variety of products. The desire for trade and transportation, led to the invention of the wheel around 3000 BCE, affecting the Mesopotamians, Hyksos (Egyptians), and Romans and greatly impacting their economies, transportation and entertainment. Without the wheel, the trading and transportation on many societies would not be successful. Without the wheel there was no possibilities for cities to be built, because people could not collect the materials needed for construction. They were the first society to invent the wheel. They invented it because it would help them with transportation for trading. They made covered wagons as well as four wheeled carts . With covered wagons, the food or people that were in it, could be safe because there was a small risk of falling over. It helped them because they could trade faster and also move from one place to another. Their wheels were made up of two discs of solid wood nailed together. The tires were made of leather. Carts were found in Tomb of Puabi at Ur. To facilitate the transportation of the wagons and carts, not only people pulled them, but also domesticated animals. Donkeys were used a lot to pull wagons, as well as other big animals. Because of the hard work on commerce, and it's growth, the Sumerians started using money.The Sumerians imported items made from, stone, copper, tin, and wood, that were not found nearby.
