How was Roman culture an example of cultural diffusion at its best? I believe the Roman culture was the best example of cultural diffusion because of the massive amount of people going in and out of the country. Without this amount of people entering and exiting the country there would no diffusion. In other words, without anyone leaving and entering the country there would be no way for these traits and ideas of the Roman society to spread across the rest of the world. With all countries diffusion is very important. Without diffusion you could lose wars, population, political support, and etcetera. The Romans seemed to master this trait. Here I will list many different cultural artifacts that the Romans left that are still used to this day. Art: In art the Romans used mosaics, we still use mosaics today. Architecture: In Rome there were many architectural breakthroughs, and they were adopted by Rome’s neighbors. (Etruscans and Greeks) In the world today specifically in the U.S. you can find evidence of Roman architecture. After modifying the Etruscan arch the Romans found it was perfect to build an aqueduct to carry water all across the vast empire. This marvel in itself led to the invention of toilets, sinks, modern day plumbing, and wastewater infrastructure. Philosophy: Roman philosophy influenced the naming of months on the calendar, planets, and even the modern Julian calendar. Roman Government: The Roman government was the almost exact predecessor to our modern day government here in the U.S..
