1) Charisma can be seen as a natural ability of a leader, 2) charisma can be seen as the core of an object or person or, 3) charisma can be seen as the attractiveness of a person. A lot of research has been done on charisma and on the way it can be defined. A charismatic leader is able to formulate an inspiring and clear vision. He or she is very much focused on opportunities and limitations of the environment, and the needs of the followers. This aspect does not correspond completely to the behavior of Bill Gates. Bill Gates does actively promotes his own philosophy, he has written several books and he has given lot of interviews. His face was on many magazine covers and he advises schools on what kids should learn. However, after he retired as a CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates decided to start a second career in philanthropy. Due to the fact that a lot of his former close colleagues described him as verbally combative, he decided to do this together with his wife Melinda. They established the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. With this foundation he wants to improve US education and global wealth, he wants to contribute in the process of Africa feeding itself and he wants to help spread mobile banking so that the poorer people can transform their lives.
